ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Nov. 6, 2015 — Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) chairman and CEO Maury Gallagher today received the 2015 Tony Jannus Award in recognition of his lifetime accomplishments in commercial aviation. Awarded each year since 1964 by the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society, the prestigious award recognizes outstanding pioneers, participants and contributors to the growth and success of commercial aviation.

“I’m truly grateful to receive this honor from the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society,” said Maury Gallagher, Allegiant Travel Company chairman and CEO. “It’s a privilege to be a part of the aviation industry. I am humbled to be recognized as having contributed to an industry that has had such a profound impact on my life.”

Under Gallagher’s leadership, Allegiant has generated 51 consecutive profitable quarters, despite industry challenges that include fluctuating fuel costs and an unstable economy. Additionally, Allegiant’s unique business model has provided affordable air service in underserved markets nationwide, enabling new travelers to take vacations through the company’s travel options.

“We are thrilled to see Mr. Gallagher receive this great honor,” said Tony Jannus Society member Thomas Jewsbury, airport director of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport and Society member. “Maury has taken a company out of bankruptcy and transformed it into one of the top performing, low-cost in the country. We are proud to be able to offer non-stop routes to 43 cities with Allegiant and look forward to all the growth the company has to offer.”

Gallagher has been actively involved in the management of Allegiant since June 2001. He has served as CEO since 2003 and was named Chairman of the Board in 2006. Since then, Gallagher has established a low-cost focusing on a niche market: providing nonstop air service from underserved airports to major vacation destinations, and serving cities that typically see few direct flights from major carriers. Gallagher also led Allegiant Travel Co. to a successful IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in December 2006.

The Tony Jannus Award is named in honor of the pilot and creator of the world’s first scheduled commercial airline, a trend that is the foundation of today’s multibillion-dollar industry.

Allegiant offers a unique travel option to communities across the country. Focusing on low-cost leisure travel, the company provides customers with low base fares averaging nearly half of the cost of the average domestic round-trip fare. The innovative business model has allowed the company to grow from one aircraft and one route just over a decade ago, to providing convenient, affordable service in over 100 communities nationwide.

About the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society: The Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society was established in 1964, by the Tampa and St. Petersburg Chambers of Commerce in honor of Tony Jannus, the pilot recognized by the Smithsonian as the founder of the world’s first scheduled airline. The airline - which began flights on New Year’s Day, 1914 - had only one plane, a single-engine Benoist flying boat that flew round trips daily between Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. The Society recognizes outstanding contributors to the growth and improvement of the scheduled airline industry, supports and celebrates students and educators through the annual Tony Jannus Award and banquet.
