May 2021 Board Report

Random Drug testing Through May 10, 232 OHS students have been randomly tested. All have been negative.

Communications/Social Media Our athletic department Twitter account (@OregonHawks) is up to 1,175 followers. Our Instagram has 404 followers.

Senior Letter of Intent Event On Wednesday, May 8, as part of our athletic action plan, OHS held its first ever schoolwide recognition event for athletes planning to play sports next year as freshmen in college. Several local media outlets attended the event. Athletes honored included:

Boys Soccer – First team - Alan Acosta; Second Team - Owen Ketter, Liam Dickson-Harriet; Honorable Mention – Grant Cermak, Adam Thorsen

Spring Sports Update

Football – The varsity team finished with a record of 1-3. Due to Covid, we were not able to play our game at Rock Falls

Volleyball – The varsity volleyball team finished with an overall record of 16-3 and took third place in the Big Northern Conference end of season tournament.

Boys Soccer – The boys soccer team finished with an overall record of 5-7 and took fifth place in the Big Northern Conference end of season tournament.

Softball – As of May 10, the varsity softball team has a record of 11-3 including a 4-1 mark in Big Northern Conference games.

Baseball – As of May 10, the varsity team has a record of 1-7 overall.

Girls Soccer – As of May 10, the girls’ soccer team has a record of 1-4 overall.

Girls Track - The OHS girls are undefeated in their three track meets as of May 10.

Boys Track – The boys track team has taken first place in two of the three tri meets that they have participated in so far this season.

Wrestling – The OHS wrestling team won their first match of the season on May 4 at Rock Falls. Several early meets have been cancelled or postponed due to Covid situations at the opponent’s school.

Junior High Volleyball – The DLR JH volleyball teams finished their short season on Tuesday, April 28. The season consisted of a little over a three week span which began on April 5.

Junior High Track- The DLR JH track season began with practice on April 29. So far, the teams have had three meets and will conclude their short season on Thursday, May 20.
