Chanoine Matthew HARRISON (Recteur de la Paroisse anglicane Saint Georges à Paris). 5 PRÉSENTATION DE L’ASSEMBLÉE PLÉNIÈRE Lourdes 3 au 8 novembre 2015 L’Assemblée plénière des évêques de France se déroulera du 3 au 8 novembre 2015 à Lourdes. Elle réunira 118 évêques en activité dont 6 d’Outre-Mer. Seront aussi présents 16 évêques émérites ainsi que 5 évêques étrangers et diverses personnalités invitées 1 . Seront aussi présents des membres de conférences de religieux et religieuses (Conférence des religieux et religieuses en France, Service des moniales et Conférence nationale des Instituts séculiers de France), les directeurs de Services nationaux de la CEF et des représentants d’autres Eglises chrétiennes. Cette Assemblée plénière de novembre - comme celle de printemps - est un temps de travail et de décisions entre évêques. Organisée par la Conférence des évêques de France, l’Assemblée plénière permet de rendre compte et d’orienter les travaux des instances abritées par la CEF et animées par les évêques eux-mêmes (Conseil permanent, Commissions, Conseils, Groupes de travail). C’est aussi un moment de ressourcement spirituel pour les Evêques. L’Assemblée plénière, par ailleurs, permet aux évêques de se réunir, de s’écouter et d’exercer un discernement collégial sur l’actualité de notre pays, du monde et de l’Eglise universelle. C’est enfin l’occasion attendue par les évêques d’échanger, de mieux se connaître et de montrer le visage collégial de l’Eglise en France. Pour les pasteurs de nos diocèses, c’est un moment fort de fraternité vécu dans la prière. Eclairages sur les différents thèmes abordés et ouverts au public Les prêtres « venus d’ailleurs » Mardi 3 - 14h55/16h Partant notamment du constat que plus de 10% des prêtres en France viennent de l’étranger, un vote a lancé un Groupe de travail en avril 2014 sous la responsabilité de Mgr Dominique Lebrun, aujourd’hui Archevêque de Rouen. Cette Assemblée est l’occasion de présenter la fin de ses travaux sous la forme d’un troisième temps de travail (après la remise de deux rapports). 1 Cf. dossier de presse 6 Le thème de réflexion portera sur « l’aventure humaine et spirituelle des prêtres venus d’ailleurs » ; l’occasion pour les évêques de pointer les questions particulières à se poser pour l’accueil de ces prêtres, en fonction des attentes et besoins respectifs. Pour nourrir cette réflexion, Mgr Bernard-Emmanuel Kasenda Mulenga, évêque de Mbujimayi au Congo RDC donnera le point de vue d’un évêque qui envoie des prêtres fidei donum en France. Les évêques pourront ensuite lui poser des questions. Ils pourront aussi échanger sur la contribution donnée sur ce sujet par le Père Philippe Vallin, préalablement consulté par le Groupe de travail le 23 septembre dernier. COP 21 Mardi 3 - 16h40/17h45 La COP 21 représente une étape importante de sensibilisation aux questions écologiques et climatiques. Les croyants, et plus particulièrement les catholiques, ont été invités à promouvoir cette démarche en l’enrichissant de leur approche spirituelle. La parution de l’encyclique Laudato Si’ en juin 2015 a facilité et renforcé la parole de l’Eglise catholique dans le débat. Ainsi, le respect de la Création et la dimension d’écologie intégrale qui dépassent le cadre strict de l’approche environnementale et climatique nous invitent à une participation active dans le débat sociétal ouvert à l’occasion de la COP 21 y compris dans sa dimension spirituelle. Mgr Pascal Delannoy, évêque de Saint-Denis, Mgr Jean-Luc Brunin, évêque du Havre, président du Conseil Famille et Société et Mgr Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, évêque auxiliaire de Paris informeront les évêques du programme prévu pour l’Eglise dans le cadre de la COP 21. Les autres évêques feront part des initiatives de leur diocèse. Échanges autour du Synode Mercredi 4 - 8h50/10h Ce temps sera l’occasion d’une prise de parole des évêques délégués au Synode puis d’un échange.     EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 31, 2016 Special Franciscan Feast and Indulgence on August 2 The Portiuncula (small portion) refers to the land in Assisi, Italy, that belonged to the Benedic- tines. On this land was an old church dedicated to the Virgin Mother of God but abandoned. On a night in July, 1216, Francis was praying in the little church of the Portiuncula devoured by love for God and a thirst to save souls. He prayed for the forgiveness of sins of mankind. St. Francis prayed to the Lord: "Lord, I a miserable sinner beg You to concede an indulgence to all those who enter this church, who are truly contrite and have confessed their sins. And I beg Blessed Mary, your Mother, in- tercessor of man, that she intercede on behalf of this grace." Our Lady at once began to beseech her Son on behalf of Francis. Jesus answered: "It is a very great thing that which you ask Me; but you are worthy of even greater things, Friar Francis, and greater things you will have. So I accept your request, but I want you to go to my Vicar, to whom I have given the power to bind and loose in Heaven and on earth, to ask him on my behalf for this indul- gence." Pope Honorius granted the indulgence which has been given to every Franciscan to celebrate on August 2. We are Bringing our Youth to the Mission at Carmel to receive the grace of this indulgence. St. Francis im- plores us in this feast: “O my Brothers and Sisters, I want you all to go to Heaven!" Pray for our Youth on August 2nd.
