Key development issues and rationale for Bank involvement 1.1 Over the past 30 years, China has seen impressive and unprecedented economic growth. Public Disclosure Authorized However, this rapid growth, compounded by population growth and urban migration, has been achieved at the cost of considerable deterioration of the water environment caused mostly by land-based pollution from industries, farming and domestic sources. This has alerted Chinese policy makers and general public to give pollution reduction and control a much higher priority and this is clearly articulated in the 12th Five Year Plan (2011-2015), which aims to sustain the rapid and steady development of China’s “socialist market economy” following a green growth path. 1.2 The Huai River Basin covers four provinces, i.e. Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan. The key development challenge in the Huai River Basin is to maintain the balance between socio-economic development and environmental protection.

2015 2nd International Conference on Material Engineering and Application (ICMEA 2015) ISBN: 978-1-60595-323-6 An Empirical Analysis of Industrialization Development Based on AHP in Shandong Peninsula City Group Ning Liu1, Jinghua Sha & Hongyun Ma2 1School of Humanities and Economic Management, China University of Geosciences, Beijing, China 2Key Laboratory of Carrying Capacity Assesssment for Resource and Environment, Ministry of Land & Resources, Beijing, China ABSTRACT: It is very meaningful to evaluate the degree of industrialization in Shandong Peninsula City Group for internal development of the cities group and the construction of new urbanization in China. This study analyzed the industrialization development of Shandong peninsula city group and every city with the method of AHP. The conclusion indicted that the industrialization stage of Shandong peninsula city group is the advanced stage of industrial implementation phase, while the industrialization stage of Shandong province is the primary stage of industrial implementation phase. Jinan and Qingdao have been after industrialization stage, while Zibo, Dongying, Yantai and Weihai have been the advanced stage of industrial implementation phase, and Weifang and Rizhao have been the primary stage of industrial implementation phase. 1 INTRODUCTION Industrialization is defined to be a process that with the continuous development of modern industry, especially the development of manufacturing, the proportion of industrial value accounted for gross domestic product (GDP) keep increasing, and the industry have developed to be the pillar of the economy. World industrialization originated British industrial revolution in the 18th century. Industrialization process with characteristics of mechanized production changed mode of production and way of life, transferring labor, capital and other factors of production from countryside to city, driving the progress of the society.

  • Land-Use Efficiency in Shandong (China)
sustainability Article Land-Use Efficiency in Shandong (China): Empirical Analysis Based on a Super-SBM Model Yayuan Pang and Xinjun Wang * Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Fudan University, Shanghai 200433, China; [email protected] * Correspondence: [email protected] Received: 20 November 2020; Accepted: 14 December 2020; Published: 18 December 2020 Abstract: A reasonable evaluation of land-use efficiency is an important issue in land use and development. By using a super-SBM model, the construction and cultivated land-use efficiency of 17 cities in Shandong from 2006 to 2018 were estimated and the spatial-temporal variation was analyzed. The results showed that: (1) The land use efficiency levels were quite different, and low-efficiency cities impacted the overall development process. (2) The efficiency values of construction land generally fluctuated and rose, meaning that room remains for future efficiency improvements. Cultivated land generally showed a high utilization efficiency, but it fluctuated and decreased. (3) The construction land-use efficiency was highest in the midland region, especially in Laiwu city, followed by the eastern region and Qingdao city, and the western region. The spatial variation in cultivated land presented a trend of “high in the middle, low in the periphery,” centered on Jinan and Yantai city. (4) Pure technical efficiency was the main restriction driving inefficient utilization in the western region, while scale efficiency played that role in the east. Based on the findings, policy suggestions were proposed to improve the land-use efficiency in Shandong and promote urban sustainable development. Keywords: land use; efficiency level; super-SBM model; Shandong Province; construction land; cultivated land 1.

remote sensing Article A Harmonious Satellite-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-Ground Measurement Inversion Method for Monitoring Salinity in Coastal Saline Soil Suming Zhang and Gengxing Zhao * National Engineering Laboratory for Efficient Utilization of Soil and Fertilizer Resources, College of Resources and Environment, Shandong Agricultural University, Taian 271018, China * Correspondence: [email protected]; Tel.: +86-133-4528-3157 Received: 22 May 2019; Accepted: 12 July 2019; Published: 18 July 2019 Abstract: Soil salinization adversely impacts crop growth and production, especially in coastal areas which experience serious soil salinization. Therefore, rapid and accurate monitoring of the salinity and distribution of coastal saline soil is crucial. Representative areas of the Yellow River Delta (YRD)—the Hekou District (the core test area with 140 sampling points) and the Kenli District (the verification area with 69 sampling points)—were investigated. Ground measurement data, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) multispectral imagery and Sentinel-2A multispectral imagery were used as the data sources and a satellite-UAV-ground integrated inversion of the coastal soil salinity was performed. Correlation analyses and multiple regression methods were used to construct an accurate model. Then, a UAV-based inversion model was applied to the satellite imagery with reflectance normalization. Finally, the spatial and temporal universality of the UAV-based inversion model was verified and the soil salinity inversion results were obtained. The results showed that the green, red, red-edge and near-infrared bands were significantly correlated with soil salinity and the spectral parameters significantly improved this correlation; hence, the model is more effective upon combining spectral parameters with sensitive bands, with modeling precision and verification precision of the best model being 0.743 and 0.809, respectively.

Using freshwater recharge curtain technology is an effective means to prevent seawater intrusion. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of seawater intrusion in Pingtan island, Fujian Province, and in view of the possible seawater intrusion problems in the construction of Luyangpu underground reservoir in Pingtan Island, this paper expounds the basic principle of seawater intrusion prevention with freshwater recharge curtain , the technical measures of installing a row of recharge wells in the northern coastal zone of Luyangpu plain in Pingtan Island and using freshwater recharge curtain are put forward to prevent seawater intrusion. Through groundwater numerical simulation, the dynamic distribution of groundwater level in the north of Pingtan Island in the next 20 years is analyzed and predicted. The results show that the seawater intrusion can be effectively prevented by installing freshwater curtain recharge wells in the northern coast of Luyangpu. Introduction are most often used in the practice of preventing seawater intrusion. Increasing groundwater recharge, In recent years, seawater intrusion in coastal zone can properly retaining groundwater runoff to reduce the flux not be ignored. As a geological disaster, it is seriously of underground freshwater into the sea, and constructing affecting the lives and economic development of local groundwater hydraulic curtain can intercept groundwater residents.
