We certainly got lucky RESULTS with Isaias after all the watching and waiting. It may have just been one of the brief wind gusts, but I’m pretty sure I heard a collective sigh of relief when Isaias weakened and started tracking off the coastline of Florida. Let’s hope we continue getting lucky 2020-2021 like that in the future. TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE How great is it to be watching the pro’s playing LIVE again! However, we recorded 10.5” of rainfall during the month. The lakes are definitely looking more normal and the turf is loving the added moisture. The aerification of greens on July 19th and 20th went very well. We were a little more aggressive this time then we were in May. We used a new style tine that is designed to leave a small hole, but remove more material. During those two days we were also able to aggressively verticut and topdress greens after they were punched. Our next scheduled greens aerification is on August 23rd and 24th. On Monday July 27th we verticut collars two directions. The collars had become heavy with thatch due to the added moisture from Mother Nature. From this point forward we will be on an alternating week schedule of verticutting greens then collars. With the above average rainfall we have been forced to apply a Plant Growth Regulator, Primo, to tees and fairways. This is a normal practice during the growing season. However, this summer we are applying the product at a much shorter interval. The application of Primo is also lessening our clipping yield which allows us to do other tasks besides blowing clippings. Nothing right now seems to be ideal and creativity is key. Through the hard work of the five full time employees, one part time employee and a little of myself…we are making due! I am proud of what these gentleman are accomplishing on the course! It is far from where we want it to be and the list of things in my head that we need to accomplish at times is overwhelming. BUT, we will get there! For question or comments I can be reached by email [email protected]. THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY SCHREYER HONORS COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION ARTS AND SCIENCES IDENTITY AND HIP-HOP: AN ANALYSIS OF EGO-FUNCTION IN THE COLLEGE DROPOUT AND THE MISEDUCATION OF LAURYN HILL LAURA KASTNER SPRING 2017 A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for baccalaureate degrees in Communication Arts & Sciences and Statistics with honors in Communication Arts & Sciences Reviewed and approved* by the following: Anne Demo Assistant Professor of Communication Arts & Sciences Thesis Supervisor Lori Bedell Senior Lecturer of Communication Arts & Sciences Honors Adviser * Signatures are on file in the Schreyer Honors College. i ABSTRACT In this thesis, I will be analyzing how Kanye West and Lauryn Hill create identity for themselves and their listeners in the albums The College Dropout and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, respectively. Identity creation will be analyzed using Richard Gregg’s concept of ego-function. By applying the three stages of the theory – victimization of the ego, demonization of the enemy, and reaffirmation of the ego – to both albums, I hope to uncover the ways that both West and Hill contribute to identity creation. I also discuss the ways in which they create identity that cannot be explained by ego-function theory. I also briefly address the following questions: (1) How does the language of ego-function differ between the artists? (2) How does their music speak to listeners of different ethnicities? (3) What role does gender play in ego-function? Does the language of ego-function differ between genders? ii TABLE OF CONTENTS Acknowledgements ………………………………………………………………......iii Chapter 1 Introduction ................................................................................................. 1 Kanye West: The Jerk and the Genius ............................................................................

  • New Orleans Saints Running Back Deuce Mcallister Legends Video Call with New Orleans Media Wednesday July 1, 2020
New Orleans Saints Running Back Deuce McAllister Legends Video Call with New Orleans Media Wednesday July 1, 2020 We asked (Jonathan) Vilma this yesterday, but where do you think the 2020 Saints prior to taking the field on paper rank among some of best teams the Saints have had over the years? “On paper? I think that’s the biggest issue. On paper I think it is going to be ranked right up there at the top. I’d probably put it as a top three maybe even top two. The hardest thing to go back and do is go back and look at the 2011 team and I saw the conversation and just the analysis. The hardest thing to go back and do is you knew what that team was. You actually saw it. We can go back and compare and just look at the numbers and the things that they were able to accomplish, but this team on paper, this team could really challenge a lot of things that that team did, but unfortunately we don’t play it on paper. And then the other thing, my concern and my worry with this team is the injuries and then how will not having an offseason truly affect them.” How do you think the Saints did last year working Latavius Murray into that running back rotation and what are you expecting to see out of that group this year? “I want to see more. I think that’s the biggest thing. When (Murray) received his opportunity, he was able to excel.
