Motorists should drive with caution through the work zones and adhere to posted detour signs and speed limits. Please pay special attention to the closures noted in red. TURNPIKE EXTENSION/SR 821 (Mileposts 0 to 47) MIAMI-DADE & BROWARD COUNTIES TURNPIKE EXTENSION/SR 821 RESURFACING PROJECT FROM S. DIXIE HIGHWAY/US 1 TO SW 112 AVENUE/SR 989 Northbound and southbound Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 between S. Dixie Highway/US 1 and Biscayne Drive/SW 288 Street Overnight single lane closures, 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. Northbound and southbound Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 between Biscayne Drive/SW 288 Street and SW 112 Avenue/SR 989 Overnight single lane closures, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is resurfacing the existing asphalt roadway for Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 from S. Dixie Highway/US 1 to Biscayne Drive/SW 288 Street (Exit 5) and Florida’s Turnpike ramps from Biscayne Drive (Exit 5) to SW 112 Avenue/SR 989 (Exit 9), in Miami-Dade County. Work includes installing new guardrail, sign replacements, joint repairs, and lighting enhancements. Construction will continue through 2021. Approximate cost: $9 million. Northbound Don Shula Expressway/SR 874 entrance ramp from SW 117 Avenue Overnight full ramp closures, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. Detour information: • SW 117 Avenue/SW 152 Street traffic wishing to access northbound Don Shula Expressway/SR 874 will be directed to northbound Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821, travel north on Florida’s Turnpike to exit at Kendall Drive/SW 88 Street/SR 94 (Exit 20) and travel east on Kendall Drive to access northbound Don Shula Expressway. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is repainting the bridge at the northbound Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 entrance ramp from SW 117 Avenue, over Don Shula Expressway/SR 874, in Miami-Dade County. Work will continue through late 2021. Approximate cost: $842,200. TURNPIKE EXTENSION/SR 821 WIDENING PROJECT FROM KILLIAN PARKWAY TO SUNSET DRIVE Northbound and southbound Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 between Killian Parkway/SW 104 Street and Sunset Drive/SW 72 Street Overnight single and double lane closures, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. Eastbound and westbound Killian Parkway/SW 104 Street between SW 122 Avenue and SW 117 Avenue (above Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821) Overnight single and double lane closures, 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. Possible daytime single lane closures, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, June 14, and daily through Friday, June 18. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 will be widened from six to 10 lanes between Killian Parkway/SW 14 Street and Sunset Drive/SW 72 Street. Sound barrier walls will be built along qualifying residential areas. Florida’s Turnpike entrance ramps at Kendall Drive will be reconfigured. Work also includes asphalt milling and resurfacing, bridge widening, drainage, lighting, signage, and traffic signal improvements on local roads. Construction will continue through mid-2021. Approximate cost: $73.9 million. TURNPIKE EXTENSION/SR 821 WIDENING PROJECT FROM BIRD ROAD TO DOLPHIN EXPRESSWAY/SR 836 Northbound and southbound Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 at various locations between Bird Road/SW 40 Street and Dolphin Expressway/SR 836 Overnight intermittent single and multiple lane closures, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. Eastbound and westbound Coral Way/SW 24 Street between SW 114 Avenue and SW 122 Avenue Overnight intermittent single lane closures, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Friday, June 18. Daytime intermittent single lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, June 14, and daily through Saturday, June 19. Eastbound and westbound SW 8 Street/US 41 under Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 Overnight intermittent single and double lane closures, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Friday, June 18. Flagler Street under Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 Overnight intermittent single lane closures, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Friday, June 18. Daytime intermittent single lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, June 14, and daily through Saturday, June 19. Westbound Dolphin Expressway/SR 836 between NW 87 Avenue and Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 Overnight intermittent single and multiple lane closures, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, June 13, and nightly through Thursday, June 17. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Florida’s Turnpike/SR 821 will be widened from six to 10 lanes between Dolphin Expressway/SR 836 and Bird Road/SW 40 Street. The project entails major modifications at the Dolphin Expressway/SR 836 interchange. Work includes replacing the Coral Way/SW 24 Street bridge over Florida’s Turnpike; operational, safety and capacity improvements for motorists and pedestrians on SW 8 Street and at the SW 8 Street interchange; and minor road improvements on West Flagler Street. Additionally, sound barrier walls will be built along qualifying residential areas.
