FDOT Broward County Traffic Impact Report February 21, 2020 through February 28, 2020

Fort Lauderdale – Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Broward County are expected during the week of February 21-28. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Interstates

1. I-95 from south of Hollywood Boulevard in the City of Hollywood to south of Broward Boulevard in the City of Fort Lauderdale and I-595 from I-95 to SR-7 in the Town of Davie (95 Express Phase 3C) Description: Work on this 9-mile 95 Express project includes extending the existing Express Lanes north from just south of Hollywood Boulevard to just south of Broward Boulevard in Broward County. One lane will be added and the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane will be converted to create two Express Lanes in each direction. The number of General Use lanes will remain the same. Other project improvements include construction of I-95/I-595 Direct Connectors between 95 Express Lanes and I-595, as well as reconstruction, milling, resurfacing and widening of I-595 from SR-7 to I-95 and along I-95 from south of Hollywood Boulevard to south of Broward Boulevard. Additional work includes bridge widening along I-95 at several locations, painting of 17 bridges within project limits, I-95/SR 84 interchange modifications, Integrated Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Installation, including cameras, detectors and dynamic message signs to optimize traffic operations, tolling/gantry construction, ramp signalization implementation at the interchanges, lighting, signage and drainage installation and construction of shoulder–mounted sound walls and retaining walls. Cost/Completion: $457 million / late 2024 Traffic Impact: I-95 Traffic Impact: • I-95 northbound, between the SR 84 exit ramp to just north of SR 84, has a new traffic pattern to allow for roadway and bridge construction. This pattern is anticipated to be in place through summer 2021, weather permitting. • I-95 in each direction, from Hollywood Boulevard to south of Davie Boulevard, will have up to three lanes closed, nightly as needed, Sunday through Thursday. The first lane will close at 9:30 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., the third lane will close at 11 p.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m. • I-95 from Griffin Road to South of Davie Boulevard, will have shoulder closures daily and nightly as needed. I-595 Traffic Impact: • FPL has scheduled pacing operations, nightly, 10 p.m. until 4 a.m., Monday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 25. FHP will restrict I-595 eastbound traffic beginning east of Hiatus Road and I-595 westbound traffic east of US-1; traffic will be slowed incrementally, and motorists can expect a half hour delay. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • I-595 in each direction, from east of SR-7 to Anglers Avenue, will have up to three lanes closed, nightly as needed, Sunday through Thursday. The first lane will close at 9:30 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., the third lane will close at 11 p.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m. • I-595, from I-95 to SR-7, will have shoulder closures daily and nightly as needed. Ramp Impact: • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to I-595 westbound, from the I-95 ramp entrance to Anglers Avenue, will have the inside lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • The I-95 southbound exit ramp to I-595 westbound, from south of SR-84 to Anglers Avenue, will have the outside lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • I-95 southbound to the I-595 entrance ramp, from the ramp entrance to south of SR-84, will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • I-595 westbound to the I-95 northbound entrance ramp, from south of SR-84 (SW 32nd Street) to north SR-84 (SW 25th Street), will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • The SR 84 eastbound ramp, under the I-595 eastbound and westbound bridge, will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • The SR 84 east bound ramp, from SR 441 to Canal Drive, will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • I-95 to the I-595 eastbound entrance ramp will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday night, March 1. • I-595 westbound to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday night, March 1. • I-595 eastbound to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp will have one lane closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday night, March 1. • I-95 northbound to the SR 84 entrance ramp, from SW 40th Street to north of SR-84, will have one lane closed, 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday night, March 1. Arterial Traffic Impact: • 30th street, from Marina Mile to 32nd Street, will have one outside lane closed in each direction, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday night, March 1.

2. I-95 from south of Broward Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale (95 Express Phase 3A-1) Description: Work on this 6.7-mile 95 Express project includes widening and converting the existing I-95 HOV Lanes to Managed Lanes which will result in two tolled Express Lanes in each direction; the number of General Use lanes will remain the same. Other work includes: widening bridges, sound wall construction, installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and tolling equipment and ramp signaling at the I-95 entrance ramps at Davie Road, Broward Boulevard, Sunrise Boulevard, Oakland Park Boulevard and Commercial Boulevard. Cost/Completion: $150 million / early 2021 Traffic Impacts: • I-95 will have three lanes closed in each direction, 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The first two lanes will close at 9 p.m., and the third lane will close at 10 p.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m. • I-95 in both directions, from south of Davie Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard, will have intermittent shoulder and ramp shoulder closures, as needed, daily and nightly. • Powerline Road at I-95 will undergo a full nightly closure, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday night, through March 5. Traffic will be detoured via Commercial Boulevard, N. Dixie Highway and Oakland Park Boulevard. • Commercial Boulevard will undergo a full nightly closure, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday night, through February 27. Traffic will be detoured via North Dixie Highway, Oakland Park Boulevard and Powerline Road. • Oakland Park Boulevard at I-95 will undergo a full nightly closure for bridge construction, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday night, through February 27. Traffic will be detoured via Powerline Road, NW19th Street, Sunrise Boulevard and NW 21st Avenue. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • NW19th Street at I-95 will undergo a full nightly closure, 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday night. Traffic will be detoured via Powerline Road, Oakland Park Boulevard and NW 21st Avenue. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • NW 38th Street at I-95 will undergo a full nightly closure, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday night, beginning Monday, February 24 through Thursday, March 5. Traffic will be detoured via NW 10th Ave and Powerline Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • Powerline Road at the I-95 overpass will have one lane closed daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. • NW 19th Street at the I-95 overpass will have one lane closed, daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. • I-95 northbound, between Sunrise Boulevard and Oakland Park Boulevard has a new traffic pattern to allow for outside shoulder construction. This pattern is anticipated to be in place through April 2020, weather permitting. • NW 6th Street at the I-95 overpass will have one lane closed, daily, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. • Oakland Park Boulevard at the I-95 overpass will have one lane closed, daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ramp Impact: • The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed, nightly, as needed, 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Commercial Boulevard and Powerline Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • The I-95 northbound exit ramps to Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed as needed 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 and Commercial Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will be closed as needed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 and Cypress Creek Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Commercial Boulevard will be closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will be closed nightly, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. FHP will be on site to assist motorists; consecutive ramps will not be closed at the same time. • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to eastbound Oakland Park Boulevard will have one inside lane closed daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will have one inside lane closed daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. • The I-595 to I-95 northbound ramp will have one outside lane closed nightly, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through February 27.

3. I-95 from south of SW 10th Street in the City of Deerfield Beach to south of Glades Road in the City of Boca Raton (95 Express Phase 3B-1) Description: Work on this 4.8-mile 95 Express project includes widening and converting the existing I-95 HOV Lanes to Managed Lanes which will result in two tolled Express Lanes in each direction; the number of General Use lanes will remain the same. Other project improvements include bridge widenings at Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real, complete bridge replacement at the Hillsboro Canal, noise wall construction, portable traffic monitoring sites, toll gantry installation, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installation, ramp signaling at the I-95 entrance ramps from Palmetto Park Road, Express Lane markers and landscape relocation. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Palmetto Park Road, Military Trail and Hillsboro Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Please see detour flyer attached. • I-95 Northbound Full Closure Advanced Notice: I-95 northbound lanes at Hillsboro Boulevard will be closed to traffic overnight, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Wednesday night, March 4 for overhead sign structure installation. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 northbound exit ramp to Hillsboro Boulevard west, Military Trail and Palmetto Park Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Please see detour flyer attached. • Palmetto Park Road at I-95 will have two lanes closed in each direction nightly, as needed, Sunday through Thursday. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., and the second lane will close at 10:30 p.m. All lanes will be opened by 5:30 a.m. • Palmetto Park Road at I-95 will have one lane closed in each direction daily, as needed, 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. • Camino Real at I-95 will have one lane closed in each direction daily, as needed, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ramp Impact: • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via I-95 northbound, Hillsboro Boulevard, and Military Trail. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from westbound Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via Military Trail and Hillsboro Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. • The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from eastbound Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. 4. 595 Express Traffic Impact: • One lane on the I-595 westbound ramp over US 441 will be closed Thursday, February 27, through Friday, February 28, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. A second lane will close on the I-595 westbound ramp over US 441 between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., for Bridge 860420 Joint Repair. All lanes will be opened at 5 a.m.

Northeast Broward

5. Countywide Lighting Retrofit Improvements Project in Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, West Park, Davie, Hollywood, Miramar and Lauderhill Description: Lighting retrofit improvements include the installation of new light poles, upgrading light poles to LED lighting throughout Broward County in the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, West Park, Davie, Hollywood, Miramar and Lauderhill. 6. SR 7/US 441 Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Project from NW 29th Street to north of SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes Description: Safety enhancements will address pedestrian mobility by constructing a 10-foot shared-use path along the east side of SR 7/US 441 within the project limits. A pedestrian safety barrier will be installed along the existing median to discourage mid-block pedestrian crossings. Improvements will also include a new northbound overhead sign, miscellaneous signage, paving, restriping, landscaping, and curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Hicklyn at (954) 482-4190 or [email protected] Cost/Completion: $1.4 million / early 2020 Traffic Impact: • One lane in each direction will be closed intermittently on SR 7/US 441 from NW 29th Street to SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday for road widening and median work. • One lane in each direction will be closed intermittently on SR 7/US 441 from NW 29th Street to SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday for road widening and median work. • One lane in each direction will be closed intermittently on SR 7/US 441 from NW 29th Street to SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday and Saturday for road widening and median work.

7. Federal Highway/US 1 Mobility Improvement Project from Sample Road to the Broward/Palm Beach County Line in Lighthouse Point and Deerfield Beach Description: The project improvements consist of widening the roadway to accommodate 5-foot bike lanes, reconstructing medians, portions of the roadway and sidewalks, milling and resurfacing. Other improvements include installing drainage, curb and gutter, signalization, lighting, signage and pavement markings. For more information, contact Community Outreach Specialist Justina I. Hicklyn at (954) 482-4190 or [email protected] Cost/Completion: $ 8.2 million / early 2021 Traffic Impact: • One inside lane in each direction will be permanently closed intermittently (2500 feet at a time) on US 1/Federal Highway from Sample Road to the Broward/Palm Beach County Line, ongoing, for median widening.

8. Sunrise Boulevard Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Project from NW 15th Avenue to North Flagler Drive in the city of Fort Lauderdale Description: This project will address pedestrian safety by constructing a signalized mid-block pedestrian crossing and new light poles to increase visibility. Cost/Completion: $602,297 / spring 2020 Traffic Impact: • One lane in each direction of SR 838/Sunrise Boulevard between NW 15th Avenue and North Flagler Drive will be closed, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday for signalization and lighting work.

9. Oakland Park Mobility Improvement Project from NW 136th Avenue to North Atlantic Boulevard in Sunrise, Lauderhill and Fort Lauderdale Description: This project will address mobility improvement on various roadways that intersect with SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard from NW 136th Avenue to North Atlantic Boulevard in the cities of Sunrise, Lauderhill, and Fort Lauderdale in Broward County. The project improvements consist of widening the roadway to accommodate bike lanes, milling and resurfacing, providing shared lanes (sharrows) and adding signage and pavement markings. Other improvements include installing traffic signal priority from NW 136th Avenue to Pine Island Road, new drainage structures, sidewalks, and ADA upgrades to curb ramps. Construction Open House: Construction Open Houses will be held on Tuesday, February 25, at Lauderhill City Hall, 5581 W. Oakland Park Boulevard, Lauderhill, and Thursday, February 27, at Elliot Hall, 2501 NE 30th Street, Fort Lauderdale, for the Oakland Park Boulevard Mobility Improvement Project. Cost/Completion: $3,469,054 / fall 2021 Traffic Impact: • The west bound lane along the Oakland Park Boulevard Access Road from the north side of NE 32nd Avenue to the south side of the NE 32nd Avenue will be permanently closed, for the removal of the existing guardrail, drainage operations and bulkhead wall installation.

Northwest Broward

10. SR 7 Improvements Project from Commercial Boulevard to south of Glades Road in Tamarac, North Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale, Margate, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Parkland and Palm Beach County Commercial Boulevard to Broward / Palm Beach County Line: Description: The improvements under this contract include removing old asphalt, resurfacing the roadway, upgrading pedestrian features, including adding sidewalks on both sides and detectable warning surfaces at crosswalks. Other improvements include installing overhead sign structures, upgrading signs and pavement markings to include a 7-foot bike lane in each direction, installing new bus shelters with bicycle racks, trash receptacles, and benches, upgrading drainage structures, upgrading signalization with pedestrian signals, detectors and vehicle video detection, and upgrading lighting. Hicklyn at (954) 482-4190 or [email protected] Cost/Completion: $13.4 million / spring 2020 Traffic Impact: • One lane in each direction of State Road 7 between north of NW 31st Street and south of the Broward/Palm Beach County Line will be closed, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for the installation of signalization, roadway lighting, and for road widening operations. • One southbound, outside lane on State Road 7 between Commercial Boulevard and NW 31st Street will be closed, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for the installation of underground conduit and roadway lighting. • One alternating lane in each direction along State Road 7 will be closed, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday between north of NW 31st Street and south of the Broward/Palm Beach County Line for paving operations. • One alternating lane in each direction on Sample Road will be closed at the Sample Road bridge and SR 7/US 441 intersection, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday for paving operations. • One lane in each direction along State Road 7/US 441 will be closed intermittently 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday, for signalization (traffic control cabinet) operations at the following intersections: Sample Road, Cullum Road, Wiles Road, Winston Park Boulevard, Sawgrass Expressway eastbound entrance, Sawgrass Expressway westbound entrance, Regency Lake Boulevard, Johnson Road, Hillsboro Boulevard, and Loxahatchee Road.

11. Sample Road Bus Queue Jump Project from Rock Island Road to SR 5/US 1 in Coral Springs, Margate, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, and Pompano Beach Description: The implementation of bus queue jump operations will allow public transit buses to receive traffic signal priority at intersections ahead of other vehicles. This includes installation of Intelligent Transportation System devices such as bus queue jump lane detectors, electronic signs and other devices to implement bus queue jump operations. 12. University Drive/Oakland Park Boulevard Mobility Improvements in Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, Wilton Manors, Oakland Park, Fort Lauderdale, Tamarac and Sunrise Description: Project improvements include widening, milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, signalization, signage and pavement marking improvements. There will also be pedestrian lighting and drainage upgrades. Oakland Park Boulevard from University Drive to US 1 will include bus shelters and signalization improvements to provide traffic signal priority for buses. 38. Florida’s Turnpike Widening of The Homestead Extension of (SR 821) from I-75 to Turnpike Mainline (SR 91) Description: The Turnpike will be widened from four to eight lanes.
