The Dr. G. Arthur Broten Young Scholars Recognition Award is established to motivate and recognize young scholars to “flourish in a growing profession”. I received this award by nomination after being reviewed and determined by the award committee. The award ceremony was held at the 2016 Western Society for Kinesiology and Wellness conference in Reno, Nevada. I delivered an oral presentation at the conference on the award-winning paper titled “Evaluation of a concept-based physical education unit for energy balance education” (Chen et al. 2018; JSHS) to accept the award. 2016 Early Career Research Excellence Award, ICSPAH. The International Chinese Society for Physical Activities and Health is a scholarly U.S. organization with mission to advance research and scholarship in Kinesiology and to strengthen scholarly exchanges between China and the Western countries. I was honored to receive the 2016 Early Career Research Excellence Award for the acknowledged contributions made to the field as a junior scholar. The award was received at the 2016 annual ICSPAH symposium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 2016 Graduate Student Research Award, SHAPE America (Yoon Ho Nam - Mentee). The Graduate Student Research Award “is awarded to an outstanding author(s) and presenter(s) of a research program for the SHAPE America national convention. The award is intended to recognize and encourage graduate student scholarship.” My master’s student Yoon Ho Nam’s presentation based on his thesis study (directed by me), received this award at the 2016 SHAPE America national convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 2016 Leadership Service Award, ICSPAH. I served on the executive board of the International Chinese Society for Physical Activities and Health between 2014 and 2016 (as member at large and then as acting secretary). My service to the Society was recognized by the executive board and the members. I was honored to receive this Leadership Service Award for the work I did to this organization.
