Kentucky wrote "Alexander Elliott Spotswood lived during the tatter years of his life on the farm now owned by Mr Smith, a mile or two west of the Barren-Metcalfe County line. Due to the publicitythat has been given this pioneer in various sketches in recent years, I will only give a brief sketch of his life. He was the grandson of Alexander Spotswood. born 1676 in Tangiers, Africa, who became one of the Colonial Governors of Virginia.
