  • Film INSIDE I'm DANCING
Film INSIDE I’M DANCING (Directed by Damien O’Donnell) Study Notes ; A Hynes FILM INSIDE I’M DANCING Notes: AIDAN HYNES 1 Notes: Aidan Hynes 2011 INSIDE I’M DANCING The film Inside I’m Dancing is set in Ireland . It follows Michael Connolly, a twenty four year old who has cerebral palsy and long-term resident of the Carrigmore Residential Home for the Disabled, run by the formidable Eileen. His life is transformed when Rory O'Shea moves in. Michael is stunned to discover that quick witted Rory, who can move only his right hand, can understand his almost unintelligible speech. Rory's rebellious nature sparks a flame in Michael, introducing him to a whole new world outside of Carrigmore. Together the two men set themselves up in a flat employing Siobhan as their personal assistant, to cook, clean and take care of their needs. Siobhan soon becomes integral to the boys’ efforts at successful independent living and begins to realise that this responsibility brings as many complications as it does rewards. Inside I'm Dancing is the story of what happens when two frustrated, ambitious and romantic young men, determined to live life to the full, reach out and grasp their opportunity. It is a humorous film, which demonstrates how human beings can reach their potential by overcoming prejudices (including their own) and barriers in order to live inspirational and fulfilled lives. The developing friendship between Michael and Rory allows them to create the conditions to free themselves in order to live independent lives. But to live as they wish (without rules) brings its own consequences.

  • Celtic Language As a Primary Branch of Ancient Japhetic Or Turanian Language
International Journal of English Linguistics; Vol. 4, No. 5; 2014 ISSN 1923-869X E-ISSN 1923-8703 Published by Canadian Center of Science and Education Celtic Language as a Primary Branch of Ancient Japhetic or Turanian Language Aygun Kosayeva1 1 Department of Linguoculturology, Azerbaijan University of Languages, Baku, Azerbaijan Correspondence: Aygun Kosayeva, Department of Linguoculturology, Azerbaijan University of Languages, Baku, Azerbaijan. E-mail: [email protected] Received: May 9, 2014 Accepted: September 1, 2014 Online Published: October 1, 2014 doi:10.5539/ijel.v4n5p70 URL: http://dx.doi.org/10.5539/ijel.v4n5p70 Abstract This article reports on a study of words affinity in Irish, Azerbaijani and other Turkic languages. In spite of Irishmen’s migration from territory of ancient Azerbaijan to Asia Minor and further to the British Isles, they could preserve not only culture, but also their language in a new motherland. The present paper discloses semantic similarities and etymology of several words in Irish, Gaelic, Welsh and other Turkic languages. Celtic language was a primary branch of ancient Japhetic or Turanian language, because the meaning of several words in Celtic and Turkic languages proves a kinship between Celts and Turkic nations. Keywords: Celtic, Turkic, Saca, Japhetic, semantic similarity, affinity 1. Introduction The history of language development is closely connected with a history of people’s progress. Therefore, it is impossible to study the formation and development of this or another language in separation from deep studying of history of development of state and people. Celtic language family includes: Irish, Scottish, and Manx (Gaelic languages) and Welsh, Breton and Cornish (Brythonic languages).

  • AN INTRODUCTORY HISTORY of the ORTHODOX CHURCH in BRITAIN and IRELAND from Its Beginnings to the Eleventh Century
1 AN INTRODUCTORY HISTORY OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH IN BRITAIN AND IRELAND From its Beginnings to the Eleventh Century By Aidan Hart PART I (until 600 AD) “In all parts of Spain, among the diverse nations of the Gauls, in regions of the Britons beyond Roman sway but subjected to Christ... the name of Christ now reigns.” (Tertullian in “Adversus Judaeos” Ch. 7, circa 200 AD) Introduction There is a saying on Mount Athos that it is not where we live that saves us but the way we live. This is a play on the Greek words topos and tropos . One could add that neither is it when we live that saves us. And yet on reading the lives of saints who lived in other epochs and other lands it is easy to feel that it is impossible for us, in our circumstances, to approach their level of repentance and humility. This is one reason why many British and other English speakers are being attracted to the saints of the British Isles: although these saints lived over a millennium ago they lived on our own soil, or at least on that of our ancestors. It is as though these local saints are not only supporting us from heaven, but are also with us here, on the same soil where they once struggled in the spiritual life. How eagerly the saints of Britain must await our prayers that the land in which they so mightily laboured should again become a garden of virtue! It is difficult to be inspired by saints about whom we know little.
