The Chronicle of the First World War and Its Impact on the Balkans Birinci Dünya Savaşı’Nın Tarihi Ve Balkanlar’A Etkisi
The Chronicle Of The First World War And Its Impact On The Balkans Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nın Tarihi ve Balkanlar’a Etkisi Erjada Progonati* Abstract The process of the two Balkan Wars (1912-1913) remained incomplete until the First World War started. The aim of this study is to give some informations about The First World War and the role that Balkan region played to this war when the national consciousness of Balkan peoples began to crystallize. After the two Balkan Wars, all the Balkan states continued their efforts to gather their co-nationals into their national states. It’s concluded that the Balkan Wars leaded to the internationalization of this crisis spreading it to an ample area while many other crises at the same region were resolved without a general war in Europe. It appears that the First World War that began in 1914 in the Balkan region was a continuation of the wars that started in 1912-1913 period in the same are. Key Words: World War I, Balkans, Nationalism, Balkan Wars, History. -
Paradigms of Rural Tourism in Serbia in the Function of Village Revitalisation
HUMAN GEOGRAPHIES – Journal of Studies and Research in Human Geography (2011) 5.2, 93‐102 www.humangeographies.org.ro PARADIGMS OF RURAL TOURISM IN SERBIA IN THE FUNCTION OF VILLAGE REVITALISATION Jovo Medojevic*, Sasa Milosavljevic, Milan Punisic Faculty of Sciences‐Department of Geography, University of Pristina ‐ temporarily settled in Kosovska Mitrovica, Serbia Abstract: Rural regions in Serbia differ considerably in social, economic and demographic characteristics. Basic problems and trends almost all the rural regions share are migrations, poor diversification of economic activities, extensive agriculture, high level of unemployment, lack of employment possibilities, poor and underdeveloped infrastructure, low GDP per capita in comparison to the urban regions and unpolluted environment faced with potential threats . The subject of this paper is to point to the potentials of the rural tourism in Serbia with the aim of village revitalization, as well as its prevention from dying out. Also, the aim of the paper is to stress the fact that the rural tourism is a sustainable model of development and preservation of Serbian village and Serbian peasant from more aspects: economic, tourist, sociological, the spatial planning and ecological ones. Finally, the aim of the paper is to emphasize that it is possible to save village identity by its transformation into ethno village adopting the idea of European ethno villages. Rural tourism in Serbia must become `main` industry` and a generator of sleeping national economy. The main benefits belong to the rural households. Tourist agencies must be engaged in enabling a dialogue between their employees and local representatives. Clients must not only be observers but also critics in the spirit of trust and transparency. -

TECHNICAL REPORT FOR SERBIA LSMS 2007 Republican Statistical Office of Serbia, Department for International Development and World Bank 1.1 FIELDWORK Approximately 90% of the LSMS questionnaire was based on the 2002 and 2003 LSMS questionnaire, carrying forward core measures in order to measure trends over time. The survey incorporated two methods of interviewing - one involving the interviewer (face to face) and the other was a self-completion diary. All modules, with the exception of the consumption diary, were filled by the interviewer with the respondent. The diary was left in the household and filled in by the household member in charge of daily purchases. Fieldwork consisted of three phases. The first phase involved identification of the household and filling of certain modules, after which the household was instructed how to keep the diary of consumption. In the second phase each household kept the diary, while the interviewers were obliged to visit the household and help them in fill the diary where needed. In the third phase the interviewer visited the household again, examined the diary to see whether it had been correctly filled, and conducted the interview for the remaining modules. Distribution of modules according to phases is presented in the following table. Table 1: Organization of modules by phases of data collection 1. Demography and migration 2. Durable goods 1.phase: 3. Social programs 4. Health Household consumption 2.phase 5.1 Daily consumption 5.2 Monthly consumption 6. Education 7. Employment 3.phase 8. Agriculture 8. Water and sanitation Although the majority of questions were identical between LSMS 2002, 2003 and 2007, two new modules were added to LSMS 2007: 1.
