Ms. Lewis and Ms. Farrell will be taking over for Senior year and we need your help with homecoming. There will be a meeting for seniors interested in participating for the class of 2019 on Thursday, 9/6 in room 307 at 2:15. HOMECOMING -Homecoming is early this year – September 28th. Our theme is Maury Goes Global. Maury will be participating in activities the week of September 24-28 (Spirit Week) with our football game on Friday night and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 29 from 7-10. Dance tickets will go on sale the Wednesday of Spirit Week during lunches. They will be $5. No tickets will be sold at the door. NO exceptions. Spirit week works on a points system. Each class will receive points for the following: Number of Dance tickets sold Weight of recycled bags donated The pep rally will be on September 28 Penny Wars during 8th block – With that said, the Canned Food Drive SCA needs 4 faculty members to join Banner the festivities and challenges at the pep rally. -

School-Wide Grants and Building Futures Grants 2009-2010 The Virginia Beach Education Foundation is awarding $100,000 in Building Futures and School Wide Grants to support the teachers and students in Virginia Beach City Public Schools. A total of 100 projects received funding for the 2009-10 school year. The Foundation selected recipients from 249 applications. BOX 2120 RICHMOND, VIRGINIA 23218-2120 November 2, 2015 The Honorable Terry McAuliffe, Governor Members of the Virginia General Assembly Commonwealth of Virginia Richmond, Virginia 23219 Dear Governor McAuliffe and Members of the Virginia General Assembly: On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to transmit the 2015 Annual Report on the Condition and Needs of Public Schools in Virginia, submitted pursuant to § 22.1-18 of the Code of Virginia. This report articulates major improvements, accomplishments and challenges facing public education in the Commonwealth. The Standards of Learning (SOL), both the learning expectations and concomitant assessments, have provided a foundation for increased student achievement for nearly two decades and have helped make Virginia’s public schools among the nation’s best. However, twenty-first century accountability is more than just achievement on a series of tests. The Board of Education believes an effective accountability system is one that recognizes growth in student achievement; rewards, encourages, and promotes continuous improvement; and creates a school climate that engages students and retains and attracts highly effective and innovative teachers, and school administrators who inspire students to learn at high levels. The Board believes we must work with our education partners to further improve public education by: Creating an accountability system that promotes continuous improvement, acknowledges progress, and measures quality across a broad spectrum of indicators; Building capacity in schools and school divisions to support the unique needs of all students, teachers, and administrators; and Fostering positive, safe, and healthy school climates that promote high student achievement and social and emotional development. -

Participants were asked to fill out both an individual questionnaire and to participate in groups to fill out a group questionnaire. There were a total of 54 paper questionnaires, and 15 group questionnaires. The questionnaire was also made available for more than 2 weeks online so that community members who could not attend could provide feedback. There were a total of 3,663 online questionnaires completed. Cooperative Strategies would like to thank the students, staff, Board of Education, Facilities Steering Committee, and the community of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools for their commitment and dedication to the planning process.
