DENVER GROUP COUNCIL ELECTION OCTOBER 1 – 31ST The Denver Group Council (DGC) consists of 9 voting members of whom a minimum of three members are elected each year. Electronic voting by e-mail will be used as well as a mail-in ballot available for those without computer access. The candidates running for office are: Robert Collins For 46 years I practiced and taught business, trusts and estates, and tax law in Minnesota and vacationed in and dreamt about the Colorado Mountains. In 2010, I semi-retired to Golden (I still work part-time in my firm’s Denver office), joined the CMC, took WTS, and achieved a “C” rating. I’m enrolled in the Trip Leader, Wilderness First Aid, and Avalanche Avoidance programs. I’ve started to live the dream. I marvel at the history of the organization, at the expertise and selflessness of volunteers, at the exuberance and friendliness of members. I’m grateful for the organization’s many, many gifts to me and the community. I wish to be elected to the Council, so that I might, in some small way, give back.

Students are divided into groups of 10-12 people, based on hiking pace, conditioning, and prior experience. Students have the opportunity to learn techniques of safe backcountry travel and to practice in a non-competitive, non-confrontational setting. Students plan and complete a graduation hike with their field group. WTS is a great place to learn and practice new skills, make new friends, and become a safe backcountry traveler.
