Start your review of Blue Beetle, Vol. Feb 01, Chad rated it did not like it Shelves: hoopla Giffen and DeMatteis used to be two of the funniest guys on the planet, now they can't even write a coherent Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2. There are SO many dialogue boxes on each page and yet none of the characters really say anything of import. Arion is one of the worst villains I've seen Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 years. He wants to destroy the world because was destroyed thousands of years ago and humanity will never achieve a greater apex than then. It Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 no sense. And he drones on endlessly. I guess since the previ Giffen and DeMatteis used to be two of the funniest guys on the planet, now they can't even write a coherent plot. I guess since the previous incarnations of Blue Beetle originating from a corporate version of the Green Lanterns were all canceled, the scarab is now some magic thing originating from pre-Atlantean days. For some reason, Giffen has brought in all of the characters from his various series in the new 52 as his supporting cast. I'm surprised Larfleeze didn't show up. Giffen and DeMatteis really should hand in their pens. The stories they've written for DC post are really only good as toilet paper. View 1 comment. Jan 27, Jeremiah rated it liked it. This series really fails in comparison to Giffen's previous run on Blue Beetle. Jun 13, Ivy rated it it was amazing Shelves: checked-out-from-librarypublished-insuperheroessupervillainsvillainsdc-comics. Arion takes the scarab and tries to start taking over the world. The people in the city start turning into monsters. Jaime finds out his friend, Kevin, is Omac. Jaime decides to bond with the scarab again. comes to evaluate Jaime. He is impressed with Jaime and tells him he has potential m. His mentor's assistant asks him to help her get back to the future. Nice to see how the scarab communicates with it's host. Also nice to see Batman again. Cool to find out Ted's assistant was a Flash from the future. Hope his mom will approve of Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 bonding with the scarab again. Dec 21, Chris Lemmerman rated it it was ok Shelves: comics-and-manga-read. There seems to be something about Blue Beetle that no one can get right these days. This volume is so all over the place, I don't even know where to begin. There are characters thrown in for fun, like OMAC and , while Arion is made out to be a huge threat when he's really not, and then there's suddenly a huge swerve right at the last minute that completely derails the storyline. I have no idea what's going on anymore. I used to think that Giffen and DeMatteis together were a match made in heaven, but these days they just result in overblown pages covered in dialogue balloons where the characters say a lot of words and yet don't say anything at all. It boggles the mind how you can have this many speech bubbles and yet no clear story going on. Scott Kolins draws his heart out, and I love the fact that he's able to draw this series completely uninterrupted, but his reliable art style isn't enough to save this hot mess of a story featuring a character that more people should know and love and instead keep getting burned by. Sep 13, Wing Kee rated it did not like it. The world building is okay, it's the only thing Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 I can say about the series. It'd consistent in its own way and self contained. That being said it's so choppy and sudden it annoys. Story: More of a mess than the last arc. Oh man what can I save nice about it It's all over the place, the writing is bad, the banter is bad, there are too many bubbles and it's redundant. The character interactio. The character interactions don't work. Story and plot points suddenly appear. Dues Ex all over the place. This is just a terrible book. It's not what these two characters deserve. Characters: Jaime is inconsistent, Ted is inconsistent, all other characters are inconsistent and suddenly Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 plot changing powers or reveals that Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 never hinted at or earned. The villain won't shut up and keeps saying the same thing over and over and has no motivation what so ever except I will kill you all. Yeah and sudden monster turns annoy and yeah I am sorry but this book is garbage, it's poorly written, poorly illustrated and not worth anyone's money. Just bloody give us a Booster and Beetle book similar to Quantum and Woody. Is that so hard? Onward to the next book! Jun 09, Eskana rated it it was ok. However, most of this volume is taken Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 with a giant, drawn-out battle with a new villain, Arion of Atlantis. A new villain is introduced briefly at the end in the last issue or two, but is pretty swiftly taken care of. As a result, most of this volume felt like filler espec Like the last volume, this one is still working at re introducing Jaime Reyes as the Blue Beetle in this "Rebirth" continuity, with a support Blue Beetle: Road Trip Volume 2 of Ted Kord Blue Beetle II and Teri Magnus also has a secret identity. As a result, most of this volume felt like filler especially if you already know the characters, even though it's a major event. I really don't think this series is doing justice to the Blue Beetle name, not Jaime, but especially not Ted.
