Coastal Carolina, the regular season Big South conference champions, improved to 49-14 overall and move on to play the winner of the Arizona State-East Carolina game tomorrow night at 7 p.m.. UNLV, the regular season and conference tournament Mountain West champions, drops to 34-28 on the season. The Rebels will meet the loser of the ASU-ECU game at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon in an elimination game. CCU ace Ricky Shefka earned the win to improve to 12-2 on the season. The junior right-hander gave up six runs (five earned) and scattered 14 hits while striking out five and walking none. UNLV starter Matt Luca was saddled with the loss giving up 10 hits and seven runs in four and a third innings of work. The junior right-hander struck out five and walked four to fall to 5-7 on the year. CCU shortstop Aaron Verrett led the 19-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.
