PRESSEMITTEILUNG PIRELLI: PRÄSENTATION DES KALENDERS 2017 VON PETER LINDBERGH IN PARIS www.pirellicalendar.com zeigt exklusiv Wissenswertes zur neuesten Ausgabe von „The Cal“™ Paris, 29. November 2016 – In Paris wurde heute der Pirelli Kalender 2017 von Peter Lindbergh präsentiert, einem der international renommiertesten Fotografen. Mit der Ausgabe von 2017, die auf die aktuelle Edition von Annie Leibovitz folgt, ist der deutsche Künstler der einzige Fotograf, der den Pirelli Kalender drei Mal gestaltet hat. 1996 machte er die Aufnahmen in der Wüste El Mirage in Kalifornien, 2002 ging es in die Studios der Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles. Im Jahr 2014 machte er zusammen mit Patrick Demarchelier außerdem die Aufnahmen anlässlich des 50jährigen Jubiläums des Kalenders, der dieses Jahr, da es einige Unterbrechungen in der Veröffentlichung gab, zum vierundvierzigsten Mal herausgegeben wird. Der Fotograf erklärt seinen Ansatz, der sich wie ein roter Faden durch den Pirelli Kalender 2017 zieht: „In einer Zeit, in der die Frauen in den Medien und allgemein als Abbild von Perfektion und Schönheit gelten, war es für mich wichtig, daran zu erinnern, dass es noch eine andere, wirklichere und authentischere Art der Schönheit gibt, die nicht von der Werbung oder anderem manipuliert wird. Eine Schönheit, die Individualität und den Mut, man selbst zu sein sowie Empfindsamkeit zum Ausdruck bringt.“ Der von Lindbergh gewählte Titel „Emotional“ unterstreicht seine Absicht, mit den Aufnahmen „keinen Kalender der perfekten Körper zu schaffen, sondern vielmehr einen Kalender der Empfindsamkeit und der Gefühle, der die Seelen der abgelichteten Personen freilegt und sie dadurch nackter darstellt als in Nacktaufnahmen.“ Um seine Vorstellung von natürlicher Schönheit und Feminität zu realisieren, hat Lindbergh vierzehn bekannte Schauspielerinnen abgelichtet: Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlotte Rampling, Lea Seydoux, Uma Thurman, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Robin Wright, Zhang Ziyi. -

L’édition 2017 du Calendrier, qui suit celle de 2016 signée Annie Leibovitz, fait du virtuose allemand de la photographie le seul photographe à avoir été invité pour la troisième fois à réaliser le Calendrier Pirelli, après l’édition de 1996, mise en scène dans le désert El Mirage, en Californie, et l’édition 2002, réalisée dans les studios de la Paramount Pictures, à Los Angeles. Sans oublier le cinquantième anniversaire du Calendrier, en 2014, à l’occasion duquel Pirelli fit de nouveau appel à Peter Lindbergh, aux côtés de Patrick Demarchelier. Si l’on tient compte des années de pause dans sa publication, le Calendrier Pirelli, né en 1964, en est cette année à sa quarante-quatrième édition. Le photographe lui-même tient à expliquer le fil conducteur du Calendrier Pirelli 2017: «A une époque où les femmes sont représentées par les médias et partout ailleurs comme des ambassadrices de la perfection et de la beauté, j’ai estimé qu’il était important de rappeler à tous qu’il existe une autre beauté, plus réelle et authentique, non manipulée par la publicité ou autre. Une beauté qui exprime l’individualité, le courage d’être soi-même et la sensibilité». -

PRESSEMITTEILUNG PIRELLI: PRÄSENTATION DES KALENDERS 2020 “LOOKING FOR JULIET” VON PAOLO ROVERSI IN VERONA In Kombination mit einem Kurzfilm sucht Paolo Roversi nach dem Wesen der Julia Verona, 3. Dezember 2019 — “Looking for Juliet”, der von Paolo Roversi realisierte Pirelli Kalender für das Jahr 2020, wurde heute im Opernhaus von Verona präsentiert. Paolo Roversi hat sich dabei von William Shakespeares zeitlosem Drama inspirieren lassen. In der 47. Ausgabe des The Cal™ spricht er mit Claire Foy, Mia Goth, Chris Lee, Indya Moore, Rosalía, Stella Roversi, Yara Shahidi, Kristen Stewart und Emma Watson als Protagonistinnen die „Julia, die in jeder Frau lebt“ an. In diesem Jahr verschmilzt der Kalender erstmals Fotografie und Film, da er von einem Kurzfilm begleitet wird. In dem 18-minütigen Kurzfilm spielt Paolo Roversi sich selbst als Filmregisseur und interviewt Kandidatinnen für die Rolle der Julia. Nacheinander treten sie vor die Kamera des Regisseurs, um die facettenreiche Julia durch ein breites Spektrum an Emotionen und Ausdrucksformen darzustellen. Die Story gliedert sich in zwei Abschnitte. Im ersten Abschnitt werden die Darstellerinnen ohne Schminke und ohne Kostüme abgelichtet, während sie das Set betreten. Sie werden aufgenommen, während sie mit Roversi über das Projekt reden, in der Hoffnung, dafür ausgewählt zu werden. Sie sprechen über ihre eigenen Erfahrungen und ihre Vorstellung von Julia. Die Darstellerinnen öffnen sich einer intimen und ganz vertrauten Erzählung. Im zweiten Abschnitt tragen sie die Kostüme der Darstellerinnen in Shakespeares Tragödie. Der Effekt, der erzeugt wird, ist eine Story, in der Wirklichkeit und Fiktion ineinander übergehen, und die Grenzen, wie auf einigen Bildern, verschwimmen. „Ich war auf der Suche nach einer reinen Seele, geprägt von Unschuld, Willensstärke, Schönheit, Zärtlichkeit und Mut. -

PHOTOGRAPHY BY ZOË LAW 19 MARCH – 03 MAY 2020 Legends of British Industry BY PHOTOGRAPHER ZOË LAW British photographer Zoë Law (b.1975) began a portrait project in 2017 to celebrate key individuals who have directly influenced her life and career. As the series evolved, it expanded to include more broadly inspirational figures from the worlds of fashion, finance, journalism and entertainment, whom Law ‘considered to be British legends – industry leaders, icons of the creative industries, sports stars and others’. Renowned figures of stage and screen feature alongside unsung heroes, such as voice coaches and charity leaders, each photographed in a setting conceived by the artist. A selection of these portraits are included in this display, and the complete set can be seen in the accompanying publication, Legends of British Industry. Law began her career in the music industry, and worked as a make- up artist for magazines including Tatler and Vogue, before taking up portrait photography. She works exclusively in black and white, and her portraits of Theresa May MP and Julian Fellowes, Lord Fellowes of West Stafford, have recently been acquired for the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection. This series is dedicated to Maggie’s, a charity providing free cancer support and information. Having lost family members to the disease, Law understands the vital work that Maggie’s undertakes to help people live well with cancer, and many of the sitters in Law’s portraits are passionate supporters of the organisation. Law previously collaborated with Maggie’s on the 2016 touring exhibition, Life, which featured portraits of people directly affected by cancer, representing their joy for life and resilience, during and beyond the illness. -

Mert Alas, born in Turkey, and Marcus Piggott, born in Wales, met in 1994, at a party on a pier in Hastings, England. Piggott asked Alas for a light, the pair got talking, and rapidly discovered they had plenty in common, not least a love of fashion. Three years later, the duo now known as Mert and Marcus had moved into a derelict loft in East London, converted it into a studio, and had their first collaborative photographic work published in Dazed &Confused.These days, Mert and Marcus shape the global image of such renowned brands as Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, Miu Miu, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, and Lancôme, and public figures including Lady Gaga, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Linda Evangelista, Gisele Bündchen, Björk, Angelina Jolie, and Rihanna. Fashion photography The Begining 1800 The precursors of fashion photography go back to the eighteenth century, when images of fashionable clothes were printed in magazines and often hand-colored. Paris was at that time a center for the production of such magazines, many of which were imported into England. This picture shows a typical example of such an image. The technique of photography was developed in the 1830s, but it wasn't until much later that the métier of fashion photography came into existence. The earliest popular photographic technique, the daguerreotype, could not be used for mass printing. A later technique enabled the production of the "Carte de Visite" which were made for individuals and which also depicted famous theatre and music hall personalities of the age. It wasn't until advances in halftone printing techniques that fashion photographs came to be featured in magazines. This happened in about the first decade of the 20th century. First Fashion Photographer, Baron Adolphe de Meyer 1910 The first fashion photographer was probably Baron Adolphe de Meyer who was hired by Conde Nast in 1913 to take experimental pictures for Vogue. His main characteristic was a wonderful use of backlighting and the soft-focus lens. Early fashion pictures were essentially society photographs of aristocrats, actresses and society models wearing their own clothes. Dr. Monika Seidl I dedicate my Master’s thesis to my parents, 康正山 陳月鶯 and my three sisters, 康美俐 康湘屏 康彥君 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze how models of color on the fashion runway are dressed by synthesizing the concept of fashion with cultural hegemony. It is assumed in this paper that fashion, through its dominant leadership, produces a certain image of different cultures, namely non-Western cultures, and assimilates them into the same categories by promoting the exoticization of the Other. Exoticizing the Other is associated with the rise of Western culture; in turn, the proffered image of these non-Western cultures as opposite or inferior is a result of Western cultural hegemony. Hence, the numbers of non-white models used on the runway in four Fashion Weeks –Paris, Milan, London and New York – will be examined by using a thematic approach in order to determine if the West exoticizes non-Western cultures by tending to use non-white models to fit certain themes. Diese Masterarbeit untersucht auf der Grundlage der Analyse farbiger Models auf den Laufstegen, inwieweit heutige Mode mit kultureller Hegemonie verbunden ist.
