She grew up studying a multitude of styles allowing her movement to be diverse, emotional, and full of musicality. Most recently Megan Co-Directed and was lead choreographer of the Madame X Tour alongside Madonna herself. Among Megan’s other world tour creative contributions, such as Ariana Grande and Ricky Martin, other live performances include choreographing for the 2018 Met Gala under the direction of Baz Luhrman, the 2019 Billboard Music Awards and Eurovision Song Contest directed by mentor, Jamie King. To know Megan is to see her share her love of dance through education, live works as well as film collaborations using creative movement, whimsical storytelling and at the heart of it all – performance play.     A STYLISTIC STUDY OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN KATY PERRY’S SONG LYRICS FROM WITNESS ALBUM A Thesis Submitted to Faculty of Adab and Humanities In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Strata One Alfi Syahrina NIM. 11150260000086 ENGLISH LITERATURE DEPARTMENT FACULTY OF ADAB AND HUMANITIES UNIVERSITAS ISLAM NEGERI SYARIF HIDAYATULLAH JAKARTA 2019 ABSTRACT Alfi Syahrina, A Stylistic Study of Figurative Language in Katy Perry’s Song Lyrics from Witness Album. Thesis: English Literature Department, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, 2019. This research is aimed at taking comprehensive understanding regarding the type of figurative language within the song lyrics in Katy Perry’s Witness (2017) album to know what her perspectives about her country (USA) especially after the 2016 election. After understanding the type of figurative language, it is then related and connected to the idea of the author. The utilized theories in this research are stylistics by Geoffrey Leech and Mick Short and figurative language by Laurence Perrine. This study uses qualitative method and content analysis approach since the object of the analysis is formed as song lyrics. Adopting the Perrine’s theory of figurative language, it is discovered that there are only seven of twelve types of figurative language i.e. simile, metaphor, personification, metonymy, symbol, hyperbole, and irony. Metaphor mostly dominates in the song lyrics with its total eight times (29,63%) of occurrence. After finding the type of figurative language, the researcher relates the meaning of figurative language to the context in the data. Hence, it is discovered that the author’s political perspective and women empowerment in metaphor which dominates the type of figurative language.

It circled the globe at 17,000 miles per hour. Imagine the power that it took to push that huge rocket through space at that speed! Did you know God is more powerful than that? The Bible says, “The Lord is…great in power” (Nahum 1:3). He made the heavens and Earth. God spoke and it was there! He is almighty. He rules over all nations. God’s power has no limits. He can make anything happen. The Bible tells about Abraham and Sarah. God promised them that they would have many children, but no children were born. One day, God sent an angel to Abraham when he and Sarah were almost 100 years old. The angel told him that the following year Sarah would have a son. That was impossible! When Sarah laughed, the angel said, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14). Sure enough, Sarah had a son! Because God is all-powerful, He could make this impossible thing happen. The next time you have a problem, remember that God is very powerful and wants to help you. THINK ABOUT IT! What are some ways God shows His power? TALK TO GOD Tell God how great and powerful He is.

Given the quality of his work and his reputation for high standards, the expectations for a show revolving around Michael Jackson will always be exceedingly high. Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ONE, produced in conjunction with Jackson’s estate, aspires to meet the level of perfection the star would demand. The show, which combines Jackson’s music with Cirque’s distinctive acrobatic feats, is at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in a space that was formerly occupied by a production of The Lion King; it was completely renovated specifically for MJ ONE. CDS anchored a team that included Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Moser Architecture Studio, and Jaffe Holden Acoustics for the design and specification of the rigging and automation, lighting control, and audio-video systems. The show’s story line was written by choreographer Jamie King, who danced in Michael Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous World Tour. The musical director, Kevin Antunes (New Kids on the Block, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, Britney Spears, ‘N Sync, Justin Timberlake), made his selections from “Michael’s entire treasure vault” and remixed it specifically for the show.

His parents were the founders (and current owners) of Civic Dancer Center - the studio where he began his training in the arts. He then attended the University of California Irvine where he received both his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and his Bachelor of Arts in Film & Media Studies. Since then Mason has toured the world with the International revival of the Broadway Musical Bring it On: The Musical and is now currently residing in Los Angeles. Mason has had the opportunity to pursue both film and television, which he has done with great success. He can be seen on such shows as Glee, 2 Broke Girls, Switched at Birth, Girlboss, Best Friend’s Whenever, and Shake it Up! He can also be seen in films such as 1 Chance 2 Dance and Girlfriend’s Day (both on Netflix). Most recently Mason could be seen in Valley Girl (Choreographed by Mandy Moore) and as Fender in NBC’s Hairspray Live!" Glenda Menisa Morales grew up in the studio, loving the competition life! After high school she trained as a dance major until she was offered professional representation at a dance competition. It was then that she decided to finish school as an advertising major and begin her career in the dance industry. Since then she's danced for young artists like Keke Palmer, Ashley Tisdale, and Raven Simone. She's assisted and worked with well known choreographers including Tabitha and Napoleon, Tony G., and Zach Woodley.
