Contact Information: Will Rasavage Press Secretary (775) 815-3834 [email protected] Twitter: @rasavage Wednesday May 25th, 2011 ANGLE MAKES ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SPECIAL ELECTION Sharron Angle was the first candidate to announce her intentions to run for Nevada’s Second Congressional District, a district she narrowly lost in 2006 and carried by eight points in her Senate bid against Harry Reid. While others have speculated on what Angle may decide, Angle has been relatively silent since the resignation of Senator John Ensign and the appointment of Dean Heller to the Senate forcing the special election. Today she made the following announcement: “Current outcomes concerning the special election have made this election in Nevada an illegitimate process that disenfranchises the electorate. Clearly, no solution that the Supreme Court can make will correct the injury to free and open elections caused by ambiguous laws and subsequent lawsuits. “I do not have any desire to participate in a process described by others as a “ballot royale” or a situation where the party central committees choose their nominees because it makes a mockery of the most important constitutional element in exercising freedom. Voter participation has been preempted in either case by disallowing primary elections, or in allowing a select group of people to make a decision who otherwise would not be allowed to vote in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District. The longer this drags out the more it will become a contest of bank accounts and negative campaigning based on personal attacks instead of the important issues that face Nevada and our country.” “Although I do not intend to participate as a candidate in the special election, I am not ruling out a future run for office. Meanwhile, I will remain busy working as an advocate for the voters of Nevada and this great nation. I thank all my supporters for their dedication and encouragement. Harry Reid Harry Mason Reid (/riːd/; born December 2, 1939) is a retired Harry Reid American attorney and politician who served as a United States Senator from Nevada from 1987 to 2017. He led the Senate's Democratic Conference from 2005 to 2017 and was the Senate Majority Leader from 2007 to 2015. Reid began his public career as the city attorney for Henderson, Nevada before winning election to the Nevada Assembly in 1968. Reid's former boxing coach, Mike O'Callaghan, chose Reid as his running mate in the 1970 Nevada gubernatorial election, and Reid served as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1971 to 1975. After being defeated in races for the United States Senate and the position of mayor of Las Vegas, Reid served as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission from 1977 to 1981. From 1983 to 1987, Reid represented Nevada's 1st district in the United States House of Representatives. Senate Majority Leader Reid won election to the United States Senate in 1986 and served in In office the Senate from 1987 to 2017. He served as the Senate Democratic January 3, 2007 – January 3, 2015 Whip from 1999 to 2005 before succeeding Tom Daschle as Senate Deputy Dick Durbin Minority Leader. The Democrats won control of the Senate after the 2006 United States Senate elections, and Reid became the Preceded by Bill Frist Senate Majority Leader in 2007. He held that position for the last Succeeded by Mitch McConnell two years of George W. Bush's presidency and the first six years of Senate Minority Leader Barack Obama's presidency.

As enacted, the PPACA contains multiple provisions that will, if fully implemented, result in government-imposed rationing of lifesaving medical care, which are documented here. In addition, the PPACA also contains multiple provisions authorizing federal subsidies for abortion, and additional provisions on which future abortion-expanding regulatory mandates may be based. The abortion-subsidizing and abortion- expanding provisions of the PPACA are thoroughly documented in materials posted on the NRLC website here. For these reasons, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) strongly supports repeal of the PPACA, as explained in a letter sent to U.S. House members, posted here, endorsing a similar repealer bill that passed the House on January 19, 2011. Unfortunately, the McConnell motion failed, 47 to 51 (60 votes were required to prevail), on a straight party-line vote. Roll call no. 9, February 2, 2011. 2.
