AAUW Honors Fifteen High School Juniors

In April 2017, the Eastern Delaware County Branch of AAUW honored 15 young women, a junior in each of 15 Delaware County public high schools, primarily for their dedicated community service, as well as for academic achievement. This is th the 16 ​ year the Branch, based on the recommendations of school guidance ​ counselors, has recognized a group of outstanding active junior women.

The keynote speaker was Ann-Marie Smith, Professor of Computer Science, Delaware County Community . Professor Smith shared her background as a women in the field of computer science and the impact of knowing and using computer skills. She congratulated the girls of their current academic and community work and encouraged them to use their talents as they move forward in life and into future employment.

The event was held at Covenant Methodist Church, Springfield. Twelve of the honorees and their supportive family members, friends, guidance counselors along with AAUW members attended this wonderful celebration.
