VANCOUVER ARTIST HIGHLIGHT : BRUCE’S CORNER ARDENT TRIBE The year is wrapping up and the Christmas season is now officially upon us. It seems that the years are moving past faster and faster because before you know it, Christmas Day, which will remain on the 25th despite a petition I ran, is here and then it’s over. Just like that. Then onto 2017 (which is next month’s subject).

Christmas is traditionally a time for goodwill toward each other and eggnog. It is one of my favourite times of year because I really like eggnog. I grew up in a decent-sized family, and with relatives visiting and invited guests, there might have been as many as 20 people in the house on Christmas Day. After dinner, the music would start as someone would get on the piano and the elders would gather around singing all the carols in the song book. As I write this, I realize how many of those people are no longer here. Life is pretty rapid it seems. At least I have memories, and maybe that is the big by-product of this time of year.

But Christmas was also about gifts and I got a few good ones from ARDENT TRIBE are a group of inspired, talented musicians whose Santa over the years. My sister got me a turtle one year which I spell-binding World Music originals have been making Vancouver named Charlie and that was cool. Santa got me a budgie one year rock for the last two years. That’s why the band was recognized as which I called Sam (I was good at pet names). They both died one of the top 2 Unsigned bands on the West Coast in the Georgia unfortunately. It’s interesting to note that my brother got a bike and Straight’s Best in Vancouver Awards 2015. The chemistry they build chemistry set and still has them. I was left with a broken heart. with the audience creates a soul-infused vibe of sheer joy. Their Getting the White one year was pretty cool. I have not original tunes are powerful and contagious, and they are masters at played any one album as much as I’ve played that one over the riding the wave of the crowd’s energy and leaving them crying out for years. One present I asked for and got was a trumpet. At the age more! of 6, each one of us was put in front of the piano and the lessons began. I wasn’t a big fan of this but the only way off of the stool The band is made of members Cathy Essombe, Pat Bermel, Patrick was another instrument. Herb Alpert was big back then and I don’t Therres, Jeff Tobin, Greg Kennedy, Michael Colina-Fanthorpe & think I fully realized how much cooler a guitar was. So I got a Marco Restagno and describe its sound as “Classic, Evolutionary & trumpet and went on to play in the school band. I must be honest Progressive Soul to lift the human spirit”. Covering the vast genres of though, carrying a trumpet case to school did not get you girls. World Beat, Soul, R&B and Top 40, ARDENT TRIBE are true master Meanwhile the guy with the guitar was considered sensitive and entertainers influenced by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, while he was being treated as a rock star I was having my Sam & Dave, Bruno Mars, Celo Green, Average White Band, Rolling underwear pulled up over my head. I also think that being able to Stones, Patti Labelle, Pharrell Williams, Will I. Am & Jesse J. play the guitar right now would be a lot more practical than serenading with a trumpet. Before I get any letters from you trumpet Check out music and more by ARDENT TRIBE by clicking here: fans, I still enjoy listening to Herb while sipping on an eggnog. http://www.reverbnation.com/ardenttribe4 On behalf of all of us at the FUSIONpresents mansion I wish you a Catch them at West Beach on Saturday December 10th! Merry Christmas. Enjoy and be safe and create some memories.

ROCK N ROLL TRIVIA

1. The mighty final chord of ' "A Day In The Life" was played by ten hands in three pianos simultaneously: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Martin and Mal Evans.

2. "London Calling" was part of a catch phrase "Good morning America, this is the London Calling!" of a BBC show during World War II, of which the The Clash's Joe Strummer was a fan. * Source: Ultimate Guitar
