X-Yachts Celebrates 40 Years Anniversary in 2019
X-Yachts 40th Anniversary X-Yachts 40th Anniversary X-YACHTS CELEBRATES 40 YEARS ANNIVERSARY IN 2019 It has been a long journey for us three founders. My brother Lars and our friend Birger still very much enjoy to meet and jointly memorise the many years we shared most of our lives. Fortunately, we humans mainly recall good memories and there are plenty. There has also been a lot of hard work, but we had a very strong friendship - and still have - that made us able to be together. We shared the passion of making the boats, which we believed could be considered as some of the best boats in the world. To begin with, they should be the fastest, later they should be the best sailing boats, combining comfort, style and performance in a package enabling families to love being on the water. We have all been fortuned by living our professional lives employing hard working and passionate employees and friends, we have enjoyed being in an environment where we were dealing with dealers and cli- ents, who also shared our passion for X-Yachts. This book has been made with the help from one of our many loyal clients, journalist Henrik Svensson, former Haderslev Weekly Post, who owned one of first X-102s for years and later an X-382 for many years. The making of this book has given me the chance to look through our archives of thousands of photos, there are so many which we haven´t been able to include. They will be stored carefully enabling our 50 years anniversary book to be very different from this 40 years anniversary book. -

Douglas B. Peterson Design Accomplishments (Partial List, Primarily Assembled from Reports in Contemporaneous Periodicals)
Douglas B. Peterson Design Accomplishments (Partial List, primarily assembled from reports in contemporaneous periodicals) Doug Peterson is America’s most accomplished living Sailing Yacht Designer. During the 20th century there were four main design eras, where most boats were variations on the work of one breakthrough designer. These eras were Herreshoff, Stephens (S&S), Peterson, and Farr. Peterson’s designs have excelled in racing under the IOR, IMS, MORC, and International Rule measurement systems, winning multiple World Titles, National Titles, and Major Regattas. If you were sailing a fresh, well prepared Peterson design in any class from 1973 onward you would have had a good chance of winning. Peterson has produced world-renowned cruising designs from 8 meters to more than 30 meters. His designs have been built by some of the most respected yards in the world, including custom, production, and semi-production projects. Doug Peterson was inducted into the Sailing World Hall of Fame, in the Inaugural Class of 1982. INTRODUCTION In spite of the utilitarian tendencies of the present age, it is fortunately no longer necessary to argue in behalf of sport; even the busiest of busy Americans have at last learned the neces- sity for a certain amount of relaxation and rec- reation, and that the best way to these lies in the pursuit of some form of outdoor sport. While each has its stanch adherents, who pro- claim its superiority to all others, the sport of yachting can perhaps show as much to its credit as any. As a means to perfect physical development, one great point in all sports, it has the advantage of being followed outdoors in the bracing atmos- phere of the sea; and while it involves severe physical labor and at times actual hardships, it fits its devotees to withstand and enjoy both. In the matter of competition, the salt and savor of all sport, yachting opens a wide and varied field. In cruising there is a constant strife 219316 vi Introduction with the elements, and in racing there is the contest of brain and hand against those of equal adversaries.
