The band consists of guitarist/singer Chad Petree, singer Carah Faye Charnow, keyboardist and drummer Mikey Martin. [6] [7] History 2002–2006: Formation and We Are Pilots Main Article: We Are Pilots The band was founded in 2002 by bassist and keyboardist, Jeremy Dawson, and singer and guitarist Chad Petree. Both had known each other for years growing up in Shawnee, Oklahoma and working together on previous music projects such as Cloud2Ground and Slyder. [9] After these projects, they went under a short time and continued to make music together, eventually enlisting singer Carah Faye Faye to be their female vocalist, as well as drummer Mikey Martin. [4] Shiny Toy Guns became popular in California and on the internet through networks on their MySpace page. In January 2005, they released their first album We Are Pilots through the stormwest international label. [10] That summer, they toured the United States in support of their album. We Are Pilots was re-recorded and reissued with a revised track list by sidecho in November 2005. [11] The band signed with Universal Records in June 2006 and released a third, final version of We Are Pilots on October 17, 2006. [8] 2009–2010: Girls Le Disko Main article: Girls Le Disko In February 2009, the band introduced their Fancorps Street Team as a way for their fans to become more involved in the band.
