The following activities are foreseen to be implemented within the project: - organizing a joint event in Aleşd: - elaboration of a common strategy regarding different scenarios that may occur in case of emergency - organizing a common event in Sinteu that will consist of simulations and exercises - organizing in Szarvas a joint activity that will consist of 5 info days in order to inform the residents of the area about the importance of risk prevention Summary and environmental protection, but also to create links between the inhabitants of the area and the emergency services

Project results: - purchase of specific equipment (electric generator, motor pumps, intervention vehicles, tractor, snow plow, etc.). - organizing 5 info days in Szarvas - organizing 2 common evebts in Sinteu and Alesd - 38.789 persons safeguarded by improved emergency response services in the area of Aleșd, Șinteu si Szarvas

The project’s overall objective is to develop cross-border coordinated community- based healthcare services within the medical permanence centre of Ardud and the primary care practices from Napkor optimally addressing the population’s Objective needs for emergency intervention, prevention, early identification and effective treatment, focusing on circulatory system diseases which represent the leading cause of death in the region and at EU level.

Project title Development and Testing of Efficient Screening and Prevention Programs

The project aims to mitigate the morbidity and mortality rates of cancer and Objective circulatory diseases, these being by far the most prevalent causes of death both throughout Europe and within the cross-border area. Beneficiary: Association of Vincentian Sisters of Charity (Romania)

TOTAL Budget 9,266,172.56 Euro, out of which ERDF 7,876,246.67 Euro

The project’s main activities are:  improving the diagnostic and therapeutic background  developing and testing efficient screening and prevention programs  various screening programs will be run in both locations (but also with well-equipped screening buses and with the involvement of local GPs and other institutions in rural areas) to enlarge the proportion of the population that has been screened.  as a new innovative element, screening will be extended to younger generations (i.e. premature babies) in cooperation with local hospitals.  in general, institutions and regional/local authorities will be able to design and implement screening and prevention programs not only in Summary the border area, but in both countries.

Main expected results of the project are the following:  extending and improving existing facilities o the new building of the hospital in Hódmezővásárhely will be extended with two extra floors housing the Internal Medicine Department and Pediatrics o a new Medical Prevention Centre will be created by refurbishing an old building in Satu Mare  No. of health-care departments affected by modernized equipment: 15/32  Population having access to improved health services: 1,139,644/ 3,305,222
