Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Action Plan on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Involvement Of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation 18-A, DDA SCO Complex, Defence Colony, New Delhi – 110 024 Action Plan on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Involvement of - All officers and staff of the Company including Managing Director & CEO, General Manager, Chief Engineer, Financial Controller, Sr. Chief Managers, Chief Managers, Managers and Other Staff. They shall act as “Swachh Doot” (Ambassador) of the corporation for this campaign. Areas of operation (i) DTTDC Head Quarter, Defence Colony (ii) Tourism Central Reservation Office, Connaught Place (iii) Diili Haat (INA) (iv) Dilli Haat (PitamPura) (v) Dilli Haat (Janakpuri) (vi) Garden of Five Senses (vii) Guru Teg Bahadur Memorial (viii) Coffee Home (Connaught Place) (ix) Liquor division, Laxmi Nagar (x) Azad Hind Gram – Tikri Kalan (xi) Engineering division – Projects and Offices (list enclosed) (xii) Liquor Vends – 158 (list enclosed) Activities The Abhiyan will be from 2nd October 2014 to 31st October 2014. Extensive & Intensive sanitation shall be undertaken by all the Divisions / Tourist Information counters/ Liquor Vends on daily basis and it will be monitored by the team of officers under the supervision of head of the Divisions. The major activities in all the units of the Company will include the following:- Schedule Action Plan 2nd (i) Assemble at 9.00 am for taking pledge. October, (ii) To Educate the officials for sanitation and hygiene & 2014 (iii) To Motivate all officials for 100 hours per year volunteer (Mon) service to the cause. (iv) Change of old file covers and weeding out of all records and unserviceable inventories items to the store. (v) The general cleanliness of the surroundings and removal of debris if any. 3rd October, (i) All the plants and trees will be cleaned by the units. 2014 (ii) Disposal of unusable inventories/ damaged / condemned (Tue) furniture will be undertaken 4th October, (i) Cleanliness of the water tanks/ water storages, 2014 (ii) Shafts and drainage (Wed) 5th October, (i) Maintaining the wash rooms, 2014 (ii) Dustbins and (Thu) (iii) staircases on regular basis 6th October, (i) Cleaning of Notice Board, 2014 (ii) Signage and other unattended corners. (Fri) 7th October, (i) Shops cleaning & 2014 (ii) Dilli Haats cleaning (Sat) 8th October, (i) Shops cleaning & 2014 (ii) Dilli Haats cleaning (Sun) The above schedule will be followed every week till 31st October 2014. Common Action for All Units:- (1). Create awareness on (i) safe sanitation (ii) Importance of Hand washing on occasion of World Hand Washing Day on15th October 2014 (iii) safe handling and storage of drinking water (iv) importance of solid / liquid waste management. (2). Housekeeping agencies and Safai Karmacharis will be included in the sanitation campaign. (3). At major units such as Dilli Haats, GFS, GTB Memorial, Head of the Divisions shall involve NGO’s, Schools, Self Help Groups for Nukkad Nataks, Painting competitions, colorful rallies, essay writing and debates on this subject by facilitating stage free of cost at all major units. (4). Message from visiting Dignitaries/ VIPs on this Abhiyan. (5). Logo of “Swachh Bharat Mission” to be displayed at all premises at strategic points. The logo is as under :- PR & Publicity The Head of all Division shall maintain complete record of photos/videos of sites before & after the cleaning drive. These pictures shall be uploaded daily on whatapp/facebook for circulation..

India’s travel and tourism industry is one of most profitable industries in the country, and also credited with contributing a substantial amount of foreign exchange. Tourism contributes 6.23% to the national GDP and 8.78% of the total employment in India. The tourism industry in India generated about US$100 billion in 2008 and that is expected to increase to US$275.5 billion by 2018 at a 9.4% annual growth rate. Delhi, the capital of India has a rich cultural heritage and a variety of tourist attractions. To boost tourism in Delhi, Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation Ltd (DTTDC) was set up by the Delhi government. It initiates lot of marketing and promotional activities to boost tourism in recent years. Recently DTTDC have introduced a unique bus service (HOHO) under Public Private Initiative. The “hop-on, hop off” bus service, commonly known as “HOHO” service, is just the perfect answer to sightseeing in Delhi. One can plan and explore the city at his convenience. The tourists can avail of the hop-on, hop-off bus service to visit historical monuments, museums and other tourist hotspots in the city. This paper tries to analyse the opportunities and service offered by HOHO bus. The article also gives some suggestions that can be used in forming a right strategy to promote Delhi tourism as an attractive tourism destination on the domestic and international platform.

Right from the time of Pandavas, it has served as a major strategic and cultural hub of the country and rightly so, today it’s an exhibition of the history of India. Delhi has a perfect blend of the ancient modern India with the green Lutyens zone and diplomatic zones, Old Delhi gives an incredible picture of the traditional and historical culture of India. 2. The National Capital Territory of Delhi covers an area of 1,483 km2, of which 1114 km2 is designated as urban, and 369 km2 as rural. There is a population of about 166.88 lakhs residents as per census 2011 comprising 163.69 lakhs urban population and 4.19 lakhs rural population. Delhi has a mixed culture as people of all communities and religious live here. However, English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi are the key languages spoken in the city. Delhi is the largest commercial centre in northern India. The city has robust economic growth during the last several years. 3. Delhi was declared as the National Capital Territory by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991. Delhi has a complex administrative structure having dual jurisdiction i.e. of the Union Government and the State Government. There are 11 Districts and 33 Sub Divisions in Delhi. As per census 2011, there are 110 census towns and 112 villages in NCT of Delhi.     “Commonwealth game and its impact on our tourism Industry” “A Study in the light of Commonwealth games Delhi 2010” Anurupa B Singh*, Suman Kumar** & Gunjesh Kumar** Abstract World Events like Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games have far reaching impact on the economy of the country hosting it. Tourism industry is often the one which benefits the most. India is gearing up to host the Commonwealth 2010.The purpose of the study is to judge the effect of these events on the developing nations. The impact which leads to development of infrastructural projects along with simultaneous up gradation of public amenities. Looking into the other side of the coin, it also leads to displacement of large number of poor people who flock these big cities for employment. Also investment of huge amount of funds for these projects is particularly eminent in case of developing countries like India. The paper studies the cases of Beijing Olympics to be held in China (2008) and Barcelona Olympics in Spain (1992). The rationality of these games to be held in Delhi is explored by comparing the experiences of Asian Games held in Delhi (1982). The CWG is going to be the first mega-event hosted by Delhi since the 1982 Asian Games, a gap of nearly thirty years. Much has changed, and yet much remains to be unchanged in this time. India is preparing to break out on the world scene as an economic superpower, and the games are a step in propelling India on to the world stage. Yet India is still a poor country, ranked 127 out of 177 in the Human Development Index (HDI), and therefore one must question the rationale of spending more than a billion dollars on a sporting event.
