Welcome to WCFS Summer Programs, Connected Camp !

We are pleased to offer a menu of choices for students! Each activity block is 45 minutes to one hour in length, and meets twice or three times a week. You may choose one, two or all three activity blocks, on two or more days. Supplies will be provided for the activities that require them; this “camp in a bag” will be available on the Thursday prior to each week.

Please note that camp will run during the weeks of June 15th, 22nd and 29th, in one three-week block. Plans for July and August will be available soon!

The cost for three weeks of Connected Campers is $90 for each two-morning activity, and $145 for three-morning activities. Supplies are included.

Please indicate your Connected Camp choices by completing the attached registration form, or by simply emailing me ([email protected]). You may send a check to school, made out ​ ​ to WCFS, or your charges may be applied to your account.

SUMMER PROGRAMS 2020 CONNECTED CAMP STYLE!

Please select based on your child’s grade during the 2019-2020 school year.

Summer Time in Connected Camp for Play School students, with Teacher Nan! (for Play School students) ​ In our Connected Camp time together we will be working on a variety of projects!. We will also have fun dancing and moving to a variety of songs. We will spend some time reading stories with puppets and flannel boards, too! Connected campers will talk together about some of their interests so we can be sure and incorporate them into our activities and games. Monday and Wednesday, 8:45 - 9:45 am

More Time to Be a Happy Camper with Play School's Connected Camp with Teacher Michele! (for Play School students) ​ Let your imagination soar while we explore Space, Land and Sea from the comfort of home. Each hour will include time to get active, share a story, and draw what we find on our adventures. Short video "field trips" will add to the excitement. Stay connected with friends and have fun! Tuesday and Thursday, 8:45 - 9:45 am

Art, Puppetry, Storytelling and More! with Teacher Nancy and Teacher Sally (for Pre-K and K) Students will create puppets and backdrops using the study of particular artists as inspiration! The group will develop stories using the characters and scenery they have created! Connected Campers will tell and write their stories and create three-dimensional props to complete this project. Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:45 - 9:45 am

Literacy Learning Fun with Teacher Annmarie (for 1st and 2nd graders- 45 minutes) No “summer slide” for these kids! The children will have practice with comprehension, written expression, and expressive language. I will read them a poem or a story, give them time to respond in various ways, and we will share our responses to end our session. Tuesday and Thursday, 8:45 am to 9:30 am

Reading and Writing and Art in Camp Teacher Bonnie! (for third through fifth graders) ​ The kids will be involved in a fun mix of reading: well written picture books, short stories, and plays. They will also be immersed in exciting writing projects: a newspaper, poetry book, collection of short stories etc. mixed with art activities to enhance their writing. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:45 - 9:45 am

Get Your Hands Dirty! Join Teacher Pam for Gardening, Zoom-style! In two ​ sessions, one for Pre-K through 2nd graders, the other for third through fifth graders. Each gardening session will include hands-on activities and age-appropriate stories. Themes (among others) will include: - The 3 Sisters - Strawberries - Pumpkins and gourds - Sunflowers - Planting in an old shoe - Kitchen gardening- potato, carrot, avocado, ginger - Vegetable animals - Seed balls

Materials, seeds and plants will be provided ahead of time. Plus, participating ​ families are eligible for as much FREE gardening advice as you like, by email or phone, during the garden session.

Pre-K to 2nd: Tuesday, 10 - 11 am 3rd through 5th, Friday, 10-11 am

Mix It Up with Teacher Mel! (for 2nd through 4th graders) We’re talking games. crafts. ​ ​ ​ Minute to Win It, scavenger hunts, STEM challenges, nature-based art and lots more old-fashioned summer fun Monday and Thursday, 8:45 - 9:45 am

Running with Friends: with Teacher Amy (for girls in first through fifth grade) Running with Friends Connected Camp-style will have all the fun usually offered at the afterschool program with added twists and challenges. When we meet online, we will engage in activities that help us learn how to take care of our mind and body, discover our unique and diverse identities, and connect with other girls. During our time away, we will practice what we learned, journal. complete the daily fitness challenges, make nourishing snacks, and complete your identity project. Monday and Wednesday, 10 - 11 am

Clay Projects with Teacher Priscilla (for first through fifth graders) During this three week art class we will be making projects using red clay. Clay projects will include glazing/ pottery made by T. Priscilla including a vase, a bowl, a tall cup and a mug. We will also be working with soft clay to make sculptural projects. Materials will be picked up at WCFS and returned to WCFS when finished. T. Priscilla ​ will fire the clay projects at home and return them to school. Wednesday and Friday, 8:45 - 9:45 am

¡ Bienvenidos Campistas Conectados a 'Diversion en español' ! Welcome, Connected Campers, to Summer Spanish Fun with Teacher Jocelyn! (for first through fifth graders) We will meet twice a week for lots of fun activities reviewing our basics and moving forward, too! Songs, games, “trips” to Spanish-speaking countries. As we say in the Spanish classroom, " ¡Cada día es un buen día para aprender algo nuevo! Every day is a good day to learn something new! Tuesday and Thursday, 11:15 - noon

Summer STEM: It’s Rocket Science, with Teacher Lesley (for first through fifth graders) Join Teacher Lesley for some rocket science! Each week of camp we will meet twice to design ​ some thing that moves, something that sails or something that flies, while learning and practicing the engineering design process. We will also play nature bingo each week as we explore the nature in our neighborhood. Put on your seatbelts Rocketeers! Materials will be ​ provided ahead of time. Monday and Wednesday, 11:15 - noon
