We'll meet the white rabbit who is always late (and practice telling time), solve the riddles of the Mad Hatter, grow and shrink (while doing lots of measurement activities) and explore decks of cards (with games and puzzles) alongside the Queen of Hearts. This fun-filled week of stories and fantasy will have your camper painting the roses red! Girls Count We’re all about confidence at Girls Rock Math and this camp is designed to help her know that she counts! Girls Count is a week chalk-full of our favorite activities, considered to be the “best of the best” by staff and campers alike. From constructing castles to finding out just what is at the end of the rainbow, campers will make art with numbers, solve problems together, play strategy and probability games and discover how awesome math is in this week of countless fun! Mathmagical Garden In this week of outdoor mathematical exploration girls will discover the magic of numbers in the botanic garden. Campers will discover how patterns, shapes, and symmetry are found all over the natural world. Girls will explore geometry, measurement, use mental math, logic and reasoning as we solve learn about the flora and fauna in our environment, and create art and engineer fairy houses using natural and recycled materials. (Only available at The Kruckeberg Botanic Garden) Miniature Math Campers will build their imagination and mathematical skills while their favorite doll gets to join in on the camp experience. Girls will create art, play games and do a variety of hands-on math activities that help them explore geometry, measurement, money, engineering design and more, as they create miniature foods, accessories, games and more for their dolls. Campers and their dolls will have a ball during this week of imaginative play and creative math exploration! Girls Rock Math © 2019 All Rights Reserved Pawsitive Numbers Cat person? Dog person? All around animal lover? Campers will create all kinds of critter cuteness in a series of mathematically inspired crafts! From purrplexing puzzles to pawsome wearable animal art, girls will have furry fun in this week of imaginative and creative exploration. Bring a favorite stuffed animal to camp each day to measure, graph and compare their cuddly creatures while playing games, making art and doing hands-on math activities exploring geometry, fractions, mathematical patterns and more! Second and Third Grade Camps Camp SMArt SMArt stands for Science, Math and Art, and that’s exactly what girls will do during this hands-on, fun-filled week of camp. Girls will engineer a zooming car for stuffed animals, drop pom poms down a gravity maze they create, dance a computer code, make and take home a robot, and even design some SMArt art projects they can really wear. At Girls Rock Math, every girl gets to show off her smarts! Crafty Math Glue, glitter, gems, and geometry! Creativity and computation! This camp will have your young artist exploring a variety math concepts and topics all while getting messy with math (and crafts!) From fraction face self-portraits to measurement bracelets, campers will be making math into art with every twist of the glue stick and splash of paint. Girls Rock Math knows how to make math meaningful with this crafty camp! Flower Powers Nope, we're not going back in time to the 1960's! We're exploring groovy math and art through flowery fun. Campers will find inspiration in nature as they discover algebraic patterns in flower petals, create fraction flowers and design symmetry flower pendants. From playing with probability to beading blossoms, this isn’t your garden variety week of camp! Imaginary Numbers Camper's imaginations will go wild as they explore the mysteries of nature and numbers in the woods. Puzzles and problems abound as girls work together to solve some of the riddles of the forest. The forest is full of mystery, and campers will uncover its secrets as they measure, explore number patterns, shape and symmetry. Maybe some of the mythical creatures of the forest aren't imaginary after all! (Only available at The Kruckeberg Botanic Garden) Girls Rock Math © 2019 All Rights Reserved Math Moves Me! Play takes a starring role in this math camp, where girls will explore mathematics through dance, drama, sports and games. Campers will get out of their seats and see how math moves them in a variety of activities that get girls thinking about geometry, fractions, measurement and more. From exploring the strategies behind some of our favorite card and board games to doing geometry through dance, this camp is sure to have everyone moving and grooving! Third to Fifth Grade Camps Bead-Dazzling Math Budding jewelry designers (and fashion mavens) will delight in math while they busily bead bracelets, make necklaces and charms. Designing jewelry to wear and take home is just the starting point! Campers will bead a computer code, explore infinity, discover pi, wear some Fibonacci numbers, uncover a mysterious pattern, and more. Beads, bangles and patterns abound during this exciting week of design inspiration and mathematical exploration! Girl Power! From running and jumping like Wilma Rudolph to making and breaking codes like Hedy Lamar, campers will experience hands-on activities involving math and science that show them what “girl power” is all about. Campers will be introduced to a new SHero each day from various walks of life who embody the term "girl power.” After diving deep in the ocean with Sylvia Earle or launching into space with Katherine Johnson, campers will explore mathematical concepts and make art relating to these real-life Superheroes! Infinity + Me What is infinity? Can you count it? Can you see it? We will probe these big questions and explore some very big numbers (like, what exactly is a googol and how long would it take to count it?) in this mind-expanding week of number discovery. From designing fractal jewelry to making a beautiful pi mandala, this camp will have campers creating art and pondering ideas big and small in this awesome week of seriously cool exploration for infinitely curious girls! Girls Rock Math © 2019 All Rights Reserved Mystical Math Are you ready to spend a week in the wizarding world? Come in costume and get ready for a week of mystical mathematical spells! Explore Hermoine’s favorite subject Arithmancy, use geometry to make a Marauder’s map, determine what probability has to do with grabbing the right Bertie Bott’s bean, learn the art and science of making wands, catapult a flying snitch, and more! At Girls Rock Math, we will have you believing math is magic! Naturally Mathematical Forest explorers will discover how nature and math intersect in this outdoor math camp. Beginning with the Fibonacci Sequence, campers will uncover the mysterious pattern that seems to flow through many forms of flora and fauna, making many wonder: is math the key to the universe? Then, curious campers will examine fractals; beautiful shapes found in the branches of trees, lightning bolts across the sky, and the patterns rivers make as they flow. With all their discoveries, campers will use their creative energy to make beautiful art and jewelry to take home, reminding them that the natural world is infinitely full of wonder! (Only available at The Kruckeberg Botanic Garden) Painting by Numbers Girls will learn about famous artists and use their masterpieces to inspire their own works of art as they explore math through art in this week of artistic discovery. From Georgia O’Keeffe to M.C. Escher, campers will look at math through the eyes of a new artist each day. Campers will find fascinating fraction patterns as they design a Frida Kahlo inspired necklace, get intrigued by infinity with Yayoi Kusama, and find some surprising square number patterns with Piet Mondrian.
