Islamic Psychology Islamic Psychology or ilm an-nafs (science of the soul) is an important introductory textbook drawing on the latest evidence in the sub-disciplines of psychology to provide a balanced and comprehensive view of human nature, behaviour and experience. Its foundation to develop theories about human nature is based upon the writings of the Qur’an, Sunnah, Muslim scholars and contemporary research findings. Executive Summary A consultancy on elasmobranch identification and stock assessment in the Red Sea and Gulf of ón Bonfi Aden was carried out for SAP/PERSGA by Dr. Ram l. The objectives of the consultancy were capacity building in elasmobranch species identification, capacity building in fisheries stock assessment, preparation of a specialized field identification guide to the sharks and batoids of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and the promotion of the sustainability of the elasmobranch fisheries through the production of formats for data collection, preparation of a curriculum for formal training in stock assessment, evaluation of the main problems in the shark fisheries of the region, and the provision of expert advice for the sustainability of the fisheries and the conservation of the elasmobranch resources. Two training courses were delivered to a total of 75 staff from 7 member countries, and two training manuals documenting and complementing these courses were prepared. A 4-day course on Shark and Batoid Identification and Field Sampling was taught by the consultant at the Sub-Regional Research and Training Centre of Aden during April 28-May 1st 2001, to a total of 52 trainees from Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. -

Jamaluddin, MA Lecturer at Faculty of Islamic Studies UISU Medan, Indonesia Abstract: There are two largest madhhab in the world: Sunni and Shi’a. Each of these schools has different opinion about the hadith which can be used as a proposition of law. This dissent sometimes creates dispute and anarchic actions that leads to disharmony relationship in Muslim themself. This study tries to find out the factors that lead this different opinion between Sunni and Shi’a in understanding the hadith. Sunni argues that the hadith sourced from all over the companions of the Prophet Muhammad can be used as a proposition of law if it is valid or ṣaḥīḥ. All the companions of the Prophet, according to the Sunnis, are fair. As for the Hadith or Sunnah used by Shi’a is an authentic hadith narrated only by Ahlu Bait. The example of contradictory problem between Sunnis and Shi’a is mutʻah marriage. According to Sunni, this can of married is forbidden while Shi’a allow it. Sunni and Shi’a in establishing a legal marriage such as mut’ah equally refer to the hadith of Muhammad SAW. To maintain and create harmony between Sunni and Shi’a, it must be there is a mutual respect and appreciation for opinions outside his madhhab as long as the guidance are Qur'an and the hadith. -

Jihad term often used for things that are destructive by western scholars and society. For them, jihad is synonymous with terrorism. The similarization of the word Jihad with the word terrorism in the Western perception is strongly reinforced by a series of terror committed by Muslims in the name of jihad. These acts have been increasingly affecting the interpretation of the word jihad in a negative way although in reality that is not the case in a contemporary context. Jihad in contemporary understanding is not just a war against visible enemies but also a war against the devil and carnality. Even a war against visible enemies that are written in classical fiqh books has now replaced by a contemporary interpretation of jihad against the enemies, as was done by Dr. ZakirNaik. 7/26/2017 Abu Hurairah (r.a.) - The narrator of the most Hadith (Biography) ABU HURAIRAH (R.A.) - THE NARRATOR OF THE MOST HADITH (BIOGRAPHY) Abu Hurairah (r.a.) - The narrator of the most Hadith "An Abi Hurayra, radiyallahu anhu, qaal.' qaala Rasulullahi, sallallahu alayhi wa Sallam..." Through this phrase millions of Muslims from the early history of Islam to the present have come to be familiar with the name Abu Hurayrah(r.a.). In speeches and lectures, in Friday khutbahs and seminars, in the books of Hadith and Sirah, Fiqh and Ibadah, the name Abu Hurayrah(r.a.) is mentioned in this fashion: "On the authority of Abu hurayrah(r.a.), (May God be pleased with) him who said: The Messenger of God, (May God bless him and grant him peace) said... ". Through his prodigious efforts, hundreds of Ahadith or sayings of the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam) were transmitted to later generations. His is the foremost name in the roll of Hadith transmitters. Next to him comes the names of such companions as Abdullah the son of Umar, Anas the son of Malik, Umm ul-Mu'mininin A'ishah, Jabir ibn Abdullah and Abu Sa'id al-Khudri May Allah Ta'ala be pleased with them) all of whom transmitted over a thousand sayings of the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam). Abu Hurayrah(r.a.) became a Muslim at the hands of Tufayl ibn Amr the chieftain of the Daws tribe to which he belonged. The Daws lived in the region of Tihamah which stretches along the coast of the Red Sea in southern Arabia. -

The main objective of the study is to identify students’ perceptions regarding lecture comprehension, communication, pedagogy, assessment, and affect in an EMI setting. The participants in this study are 264 Saudi students who study Computer Science, Engineering, and Medicine. A questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale was used to survey the participants’ views on the challenges they encounter as a result of the use of EMI for teaching and learning scientific disciplines. The collected data were analysed quantitatively with SPSS and qualitatively by using the content analysis method. The major findings of the study are: a) using English language to teach scientific disciplines has a seriously negative impact on the scientific content comprehension and assessment of a majority of the students in the present study, b) using English language as the medium of instruction and assessment causes anxiety, frustration, tension, fear, embarrassment and, ultimately, poor educational outcomes, c) EMI deprives the students of their basic rights to effective understanding, communication, interaction, discussion and inquiry. The study recommends ensuring quality English education in the foundation year and examining the option of “additive bilingual education.” Keywords: English medium instruction; Arabic medium instruction; lecture comprehension; language education policy; higher education; language barrier INTRODUCTION delivery, assessment, communication and the quality of learning outcomes. -

This may have necessitated cutting thru an image and duplicating adjacent pages to insure you complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a large round black mark, it is an indication that the photographer suspected that the copy may have moved during exposure and thus cause a blurred image. You will find a good image of the page in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., was part of the material being photographed the photographer followed a definite method in "sectioning" the material. It is customary to begin photoing at the upper left hand comer of a large sheet and to continue photoing from left to right in equal sections with a small overlap. If necessary, sectioning is continued again — beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. The majority of users indicate that the textual content is of greatest value, however, a somewhat higher quality reproduction could be made from "photographs" if essential to the understanding of the dissertation. -

PREFACE The aim of this thesis is to describe and study analytically the dialect of the Harb tribe, and to determine its position among the neighbouring tribes. Harb is a very large tribe occupying an extensive area of Saudi Arabia, and it was impracticable for one individual to survey every settlement. This would have occupied a lengthy period, and would best be done by a team of investigators, rather than an individual. Thus we have limited our investigation to-two"-selected'regions, which we believe to be representative, the first ranging from north-east Rabigh up to al-Madina (representing the speech of the Harb in the Hijaz), and the second ranging from al-Madina to al-Fawwara in al-Qasirn district (representing the speech of the Harb in Central Arabia). We have thus left out of consideration an area extending fromCOsfän to Räbigh, where some-. members-of the Harb, partic- ularly those of the Muabbad, Bishr and Zubaid clan live. We have been unable in the northern central region, to go as far as al-Quwära and Dukhnah. However, some Harbis from the unsurveyed area were met with in our regions, and samples of their speech were obtained and included. Within these limitations, however the datä'collected are substantial and it is hoped comprehensive enough to give a clear picture of the main features of the Harb dialect. -
