We are seeking an exceptional candidate to take up the above key role and lead on Student Support, Learning Support, Safeguarding and Tutorial support alongside significant curriculum responsibility. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate success in achieving significant levels of performance and improvement in education and a determination to place student experience at the heart of their practice. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead a thriving and successful institution whilst ensuring the College is well positioned for the future to maximise opportunities and grow curriculum provision in line with local and regional demand. Job description Post: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (STUDENT EXPERIENCE) Responsible to: PRINCIPAL Salary: £60,000 per annum Conditions of Service: Callywith College Conditions of Service Main Purpose of Job: To play a full role in the senior management of the college. To take a lead in relation to certain cross college activities including Student Support, Tutorial, Safeguarding, Learning Support and UCAS. To share with other members of the senior management team line management responsibility for curricular and pastoral team leaders and co-ordinators. To contribute significantly to the strategic direction of the College. To embed the vision, aims and teaching qualities of Callywith College. To enhance recruitment, retention and achievement of students within the area. To set targets, monitor and be accountable for the overall achievement and outcomes related to students’ success and the success of the curriculum design and delivery across all areas of the College. Ensure that the educational experience of students is of the highest quality. Provide individual support for students including information and guidance at the pre-enrolment stage, on-going support during students’ course and preparing references and arranging careers help when a student moves on from College. To contribute to the work of the whole College in a variety of ways not specifically listed. In common with the other Assistant Principal to deputise for the Principal as required. Specific Duties: Leadership Promote and facilitate the innovation and development of the curriculum to ensure the College delivers outstanding education and training opportunities Provide leadership and management for support activities covering Student Support, Tutorial, Safeguarding, Learning Support and UCAS Ensure that the College anticipates and responds to local, regional and national priorities and is seen as an effective and responsive contributor to the communities and businesses it serves To provide regular updates to the Trust Board and Committees Develop the college’s student and learning support services ensuring students receive outstanding pastoral care and the support needed to fulfil their potential and progress successfully. Teaching, Learning & Contribute to developing staff confidence and abilities to incorporate Assessment new approaches and methods to support effective teaching, learning and assessment which maximises student achievement and progression To ensure the College’s curriculum offer is continually updated and new programmes and delivery methods are developed to reflect changes in funding, learning technology and results from the College’s self- assessment process To lead on the design and delivery of the annual self-assessment process to ensure it accurately identifies all strengths and weaknesses and that all actions are captured and show how the provision will be developed for learners Quality Be accountable for monitoring and improving the quality performance of the curriculum, ensuring successful inspection, review, audit and assessment outcomes Other Create, support, promote, and enhance links with the local community Manage and deploy resources responsibly and efficiently in order to ensure best value is obtained Ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and procedures and risk assessments across all areas of responsibility Undertake the role of Duty Manager where required.
