PREMIERES WEDNESDAY, DRIVING JERSEY — MAY 21 AT 8PM MAY 2014 THE BOARDWALK LIFE Learn more Driving Jersey returns this month with a look at the recovery, reconstruction and rebirth of famed Jersey Shore town Seaside Heights after Hurricane Sandy’s massive destruction.

“You could marvel at the online images of the damage, but being there, seeing it first hand, talking to those literally digging through their lives, deeply affected us and made it impossible to leave without some promise to return,” recounted Driving Jersey Executive Producer Steve Rogers, who toured Seaside Heights at regular intervals throughout 2013. Guiding the Driving Jersey team through the depths of destruction was Seaside policeman Steve Grabowski, a shore native, who gave a full tour of the boards and shared his personal reflections. The physical changes of Seaside Heights are not the only pieces chronicled in Rogers’ journey — the spirit of the town’s residents and the devoted individuals and families who gather there is captured, presenting a look at a people who were knocked down, but who are ready to get right back up. Right after the hurricane struck, people wondered what to do. How soon was too soon to rebuild the town? Is the town worth rebuilding at all if there is the possibility that it can be washed away again in the future? What precautions could be taken to ensure that destruction of this magnitude can be avoided during upcoming storms? “Some questions had no answers, but we took away the feeling that this place is priceless to those who live here and those that visit,” stated Rogers. “Seaside Heights and other shore towns can be washed away by the open water that both threatens and attracts us, yet in spite of this paradox, the boardwalk life still fascinates us, and draws visitors to its beauty and charm year after year.” OPEN SPACES & HISTORIC PLACES IN MORRIS COUNTY

Greener New Jersey Productions (GNJP) premieres their Open Spaces & Historical Places series on NJTV in May, with its first profile on Morris County, located in Northern-Central New Jersey.

GNJP filmed at various locations throughout the county, including the Willowwood Arboretum, the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, Historic Speedwell (the birthplace of the telegraph) and other historic sites during spring, summer and fall. All of these sites are preserved by dedicated and determined individuals and organizations, who view these areas as historically SERIES PREMIERES beneficial and necessary for the community and the environment.
