night trap version download Night trap 32x version download. Night Trap for Mobile: Yes, It's Real and It's Spectacular. We got our hands on the mobile prototype for the FMV classic Night Trap . Here are our first impressions. I must admit, when I first started watching the video claiming to show a prototype of Night Trap on a phone, I was very skeptical. After all, Night Trap's complicated structure and immense amount of simultaneously-playing video made it a programming nightmare. How could something of this magnitude be made by one person with no budget and no fanfare? About three minutes into watching the video, my doubts began to fade away. Somebody actually figured it out, and this might be the version that brings the FMV classic back to modern gaming devices. After conducting an interview with the developer, Tyler Hogle , I was offered a copy of the prototype to try for myself. After a few days and many hours of play time (even on the go!), here are my first impressions: THE INTERFACE IS FAMILIAR BUT HAS BEEN VASTLY IMPROVED. The design of the interface is where the game really shines. The layout is instantly recognizable for fans and retains that nostalgic feel, but is much easier to use. Firstly, the trap button is now a color-changing icon and it's a brilliant touch. The old colored trap meter is now integrated directly into the trap button which changes to red when it's time to trap an intruder. The thumbprint image on the button is not just cool-looking, it also serves as a clear indicator of how to play for first-timers. The true highlight of the interface, however, is in the room icons. [Hover over image for comparison] THE NEW ROOM ICONS ARE, LITERALLY, A GAME CHANGER. In place of the old room icons, which were just drawings representing the rooms, we now get video thumbnails that actually show the current camera feed from the other rooms. When you touch a video feed, the feed from that room instantly appears on the main screen. The room switches are much faster than in previous iterations. The camera feed on the room icons are presented in monochrome and have added noise/static and low frame rates. This ramps up the difficulty so the player still feels a sense of urgency when playing, but you no longer have to switch from room to room just to find the action; the action is playing out in real-time on the thumbnails. This design choice completely changes the gameplay and strategies for winning, plus you get a much better sense of what's going on in the house at any one time. In previous versions of the game, there was no way of knowing when a person was entering a room, so you basically had to memorize the rooms to go to or you had to write down a list of rooms and times to capture the required number of augers to proceed in the game. As memory games go, that's pretty fun, but Hogle's version actually feels more like what I imagine the creators wanted it to feel like; You must keep an eye on all of the camera feeds and make quick decisions to capture the augers and protect the girls. No more memorization or lists, just reacting to the environment. It feels like the training wheels have been taken off. The feeling is actually like using a modern consumer security system that one might set up on a tablet or phone. For a game that gets a lot of attention for its retro vibe, this version, ironically, feels like the future. NO HD VISUALS . . . YET. The game features the old 32x CD visuals and sounds. It's a long way from the restored HD footage we saw in the Revamped trailer or the quality we're used to seeing in newer games like Contradiction or Late Shift. I've always preferred the 3DO video quality to that of the 32x, but the 32x footage was used for its superior frame-rate. Adding the HD footage would be a huge boost but, even if a deal can be reached with the original creators to get the footage, it would vastly increase the size of the game download (which currently stands at around 700mb for the half-completed demo). The best we could probably hope for is a highly compressed version of the restored HD footage, which would still be an improvement with modern codecs. For now, the gameplay and design improvements will have to suffice. Although the sound and visuals are the same, there is one improvement. THAT ANNOYING SOUND YOU HEAR WHEN YOU MISS AN AUGER IS GONE. I won't miss the blips. THE CREATORS DIDN'T KNOW IT AT THE TIME, BUT THIS GAME WAS MADE FOR TOUCHSCREENS. Because the controls are very intuitive, it will be much easier for new players to understand. This aspect is so important to the success of any potential big scale re-release; especially considering many people haven't played Night Trap and only know it from YouTube videos and its past controversies. This version could, and should, bridge the gap. Previous console and PC versions of Night Trap have had clunky controls. You had to use one button to trap and another button to change the color code and yet another button, plus the d-pad, to change rooms. The complicated gameplay and ambiguous controls definitely turned off a lot of gamers. and I know from experience. For years I've had friends try out the game, only to see them start to lose interest after a few minutes: "How do you play this?" "Is this even a game?" "So, you're telling me I just switch from empty room to empty room until I find something worth watching?" "Can we play something else?" It was definitely a hard sell. This mobile version is, essentially, pick-up-and-play. That allows players to focus more on the multiple storylines which is definitely the game's strong point. It will also be much easier for the masses to understand or recognize because it now plays just like other games in the genre like Star Fox Guard or the popular Five Nights at Freddy's series of games. only better. Just the fact that there is now a "security cam" genre of gaming should make this an easier sell, especially since those games are obviously inspired by Night Trap . The timing for a comeback couldn't be better. THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF NIGHT TRAP I'VE EVER PLAYED. And it's not even close. I've always loved the Night Trap visuals and concept, but I always found the controls to be somewhat lacking. This mobile version is a major upgrade and the game now plays like a dream. Hogle, who's a fan of the game, understands how it's supposed to work; including the importance of switching instantly between the simultaneous videos playing on the different channels. Night Trap for Android (there's also a prototype for iOS) is currently only half-finished and there are a few glitches, but even "as-is," the new design and intuitive controls really make the experience feel new and special. Only a true fan like Hogle could have done this game justice and as a proof-of-concept this demo blew me away. Only time (and the copyright holders) will tell if this gets released, but this is definitely the version we've been waiting for. Let's just hope we don't have to wait much longer ● Night trap 32x version download. It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all). We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera. After the failed 2014 Kickstarter project "Night Trap Re-Vamped", an independent developer called Screaming Villains began working to port the Sega 32X version of Night Trap to Android as a test of his programming skills. After releasing a prototype to much approval from the FMV and Night Trap communities, he emailed Tom Zito. Full Interview. The game will be coming to PlayStation 4, , and Windows PCs. I'm looking forward to this release, I've been a fan of Night Trap since I played the game on Sega CD back in 1993, and I still play through it about once a year as a guilty pleasure. I'm interested in seeing the new surveillance UI as well as the higher video quality, though I am concerned that it still doesn't look HD. I emailed the developer asking him about a possible GOG release, and whether or not video shaders were implemented to enhance the video quality. I haven't received a reply yet, but I will keep you updated. Night trap 32x version download. One of the most constervsial games ever, this version of Night Trap improves over the SEGA CD version by having a bigger video window and many more colors, which allows for a clearer picture. Other than that -and this can be said about all 32X CD games -there isn't much to write about. The intro has been changed to what other versions of the game had (the SEGA CD version's intro was specifically made for that version) and the HUD interface has been changed. Night Trap was developed by , and as with all of their games, it has limited playability. I suppose once you know how things work you can get a bit of fun out of seeing the bad guys getting wiped out by the traps, but that won't last for long. The high difficulty level of the CD version is still present, as you have to constantly switch from room to room, capturing all of the Augers as they appear, in order to get the best ending. This gives you no time to actually watch a lot of the scenes. Info. As part of the Special Contol Attack Team, your job is to protect some friends who have entered a house where a group of girls recently went missing. The house has had many traps setup in it, but you have hacked into the security system and now have control over the traps. You'll get to work with undercover agent Kelli Medd (played by ) and will have to switch between each camera of the house to see where the bad guys -known as Augers -are appearing. When you come across some Augers, you have to have the correct access code (which starts out at blue) and then must look at the bar underneath the access code choice. As the Augers get closer to a victim, the bar will go up, and when it reaches red, press the B button. This will activate one of the traps, which will trap the Augers. The access code will keep changing throughout the game. Use the control pad to switch between each camera. Press A to view what the selected camera can currently see. You'll have to keep switching through the cameras to find the Augers, and have to find them fast enough so you can trap them. You must trap a certain number of Augers to be able to complete the game, and if any of the main characters die, the game will end. Cheats. Instant game over As the intro plays, don't press any buttons. Eventually Simms will get fed up of you not doing anything, and will tell you to pass the controls to someone else. The game will then end. Best ending For the best ending, capture all 95 Augers. At the very end of the game Kelli will congratulate you. You then have the chance to also capture her with one of the traps, should you want to. Most cheat sites list a code that will let you watch a documentary about Night Trap called "Dangerous Games". However I'm not sure if the code actually works for the 32X version, as it might be something that only works for the SEGA CD version. What you are supposed to do is press Up, A, A, A, A, A when the "In Memory of Stephen D. Hassenfeld" message appears during the credits. Said message doesn't seem to appear though. Trivia. Night Trap was filmed in just over two weeks in 1987. It was originally planned to be released for 's NEMO game system, which would have used VHS tapes. This system was never released and the Night Trap footage was put into an archive. The game was later released for the SEGA CD in 1992, and then the 32X CD version was released in 1994 -seven years after the footage was shot. The SEGA CD version was one of several games to be brought up in US Senate hearings about video game violence. Some speakers said the game was about trapping women and killing them, which it isn't -you are supposed to do the opposite and the game ends if the main characters die. However by the time the 32X version was released, Night Trap was seen as being pretty tame. 32X games such as Cosmic Carnage and Mortal Kombat II were much more violent. MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS, MEGA-CD/SEGA-CD AND 32X EMULATORS. These are the best SEGA Mega Drive (and other consoles) emulators available. Each one is slightly different in what they offer but they will all get you playing your favourite classic games well. For the best Mega Drive/Genesis experience on a PC I recommend the officially licensed USB controllers manufactured by RetroBit which can be easily found online. The Saturn version is also ideal. Alternatives are SEGA's own USB controllers; the standard model and those created for the PS3. Also, the Microsoft Sidewinder control pads have the same number of buttons and are quality pads. All these are becoming rare so Ebay is a good place to look. Retrobit Mega Drive/Gensis USB Controller (Black) Retrobit Saturn USB Controller (Slate) SEGA Saturn USB Controller. Microsoft Sidewinder Game Pad. Microsoft Sidewinder Game Pad Pro. These all plug and play with modern versions of Windows. To download the emulators, right click the links and select Save Target As. to save the file to your hard drive. All files are zipped so you will need to extract them. Be sure to have the latest version of DirectX installed on your system. You can get it from here http://www.microsoft.com/directx. Any homepages for the emulators are included if they are still online. KEGA Fusion 3.64. Requires Windows (Not NT) and DirectX 7 and above. Fusion is a Mega Drive/Mega CD/32X, Master System, Game Gear and Pico emulator for Windows written by a god of SEGA Programming Steve Snake. It is the only emulator that supports the Mega CD32X combined for games such as Night Trap 32X. It sports high accuracy, high speed and plenty of other options like Virtua Racing, Menacer, Pro Action Replay support and the fantastic Netplay allowing you to play 2-Player games over the net and video recording. For full speed on all emulation modes you will want a processor running at 800Mhz. Fusion is excellent since it does not require the dreaded ASPI layer. I have used all previous versions of the emulator (Lazerous) for many years on numerous versions of Windows with no problems. More info is in the programs read me file. There is also a version available for Apple Mac. Gens 2.14. Requires Windows (Not NT), DirectX 7 and above and ASPI. Gens is a Mega Drive/Mega CD and 32X emulator for Windows Written by Stephane Dallongeville. It sports loads of useful features in addition to the emulation like debugging and screenshot grab (used for much of this website) and Netplay. For full speed on all emulation modes you will want a processor running at least 800Mhz. To play all emulation modes at full speed a processor running at 1GHz will be enough. More info is in the programs read me file. For playing Mega CD games this emulator requires the ASPI layer. See below. There is also a port of this emulator for several Linux distributions. It currently has the version 2.15.2. It can be found easily via a Google search. Gens32 Surreal v1.86 HD. This emu is based on Gens. This is very similar to Gens and has a few tweaks such as turbo games and macros for quick button combinations. It can be set to appear in a simple mode or an advanced user mode. Useful for those not familiar with emulation. Kgen 0.04b. This is one of the first emulators. It runs in DOS and is best used with a VESA2.0 compliant video card or driver. This has now been outdated by the Windows versions but if you still have a PC of around 166Mhz and Windows 95/98 then this would get you full speed emulation if not the cleanest. Simply unzip the file to a directory and run kgen.exe. These files are needed for optimum usage of these emulators (except KGEN). You will have to configure each emulator to look for these files. Refer to the readme file for each emulator. The ASPI Layer. This is a small driver that allows programs to access functions of CD ROM drives under Windows. This is mostly applicable to versions of Windows previous to XP, however an APSI layer can be installed with no problems. In the case of these emulators: the ability to load Mega CD/SEGA CD games and play their music. Adaptec provide a download package. You can get it from http://www.adaptec.com and searching the support section for Windows ASPI Package. (v 4.70). Other Operating Systems. There does exist emulators for Apple Mac and Linux however these are generally not as advanced as their Windows counterparts. You will probably be able to get full Mega Drive/Genesis but not the other system's like Mega CD and 32X. Night Trap. Dear Agent, This is your assignment: use the surveillance equipment in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Martin to make sure no harm comes to the five guests staying there. You can't trust these hosts, however, and watch out for the dark-clad thugs lurking about. This Night Trap, the latest CD-ROM game for the Sega CD! Under my orders, you have access to camera and audio equipment installed in eight rooms of the house, including the driveway. Scan each room, looking for anything suspicious. If you find one of the prowlers lurking about, you can capture him using the trap in that room. These traps, strangely enough, were installed by the house owners and are all activated by a color code. If the owners catch on to what is happening, they will change the code and you'll have to figure out the new colors! For the traps to work, a person must be standing on a certain spot. A beeping sound is heard when one of these intruders is in the kill zone. If you let too many nasties escape, I will personally take you off the mission! Also remember that you'll be relieved of duty if you trap a guest you're supposed to protect By the way, we have a spy among the five girls who will help you out whenever possible. Using live action sequences, become the guardian, of those guests! But don't get distracted too long in one room: there is always time for someone to fall prey to the Night Trap!
