Cary-Grove High School Cary-Grove Summer Newsletter Summer 2018 Principal’s Welcome Families of Cary-Grove, It’s hard to believe we are already looking towards the upcoming 2018-2019 school year! I want to again congratulate the Class of 2018 and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. They served as tremendous role-models for our underclassmen in demonstrating how to be great leaders and well-rounded people. Speaking of underclassmen, we are excited to welcome the Neil Lesinski Freshman Class of 2022 into the Cary-Grove family and have Principal no doubt they will find their transition to high school a great experience. Neil Lesinski Rebecca Saffert Principal Vice Principal In preparation for the 18-19 school year, various committees Jim Kelly met and reflected on Cary-Grove’s core values and how to best continue to instill our values Administrative Dean of in our students during their four years here. Essentially, we collaborated to define what Students (A-K) it means to “Be C-G.” The discussions led to the creation of the six Be C-G Pillars, which Ryan Ludwig include Self Advocacy, Perseverance, Integrity, Engagement, Responsibility, and Citizenship. The results of the survey are overwhelmingly positive; however, our administrative team, in collaboration with our staff, will be reviewing School Counselors: the results closely in July and formulating a plan for how we might continue to grow in Meghan Kratzke (A-Da) providing the best educational environment possible for all students. Freshman and Transfer Student Orientation The Cary-Grove staff and students Invite the Class of 2022 to Connect Crew Freshman Orientation 10 a.m.–1:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, Lower Gym The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from middle school to high school a positive one. Seniors and juniors will serve as leaders and mentors to the freshmen. Large and small group activities are designed to address students’ needs and concerns in an enjoyable manner. Wear comfortable clothes and don’t bring school supplies. Travel light! Due to the nature of this program, make-up opportunities are not available. It is important that you come to Cary-Grove High School to pick up your Chromebook. Parents and students should feel free to stop in or call our office with any social-emotional needs as our department includes counselors, social workers, a psychologist, and a school nurse. In addition, students and parents have access to our College and Career Center to research various post- high school educational and career options. Through this process, your student may be considered for other interventions.
