Cary-Grove Summer Newsletter Summer 2017 Principal’S Welcome Cary-Grove High School Cary-Grove Summer Newsletter Summer 2017 Principal’s Welcome Families of Cary-Grove, I am extremely excited to join the Cary-Grove family and serve as the new principal! I am especially grateful for the opportunity to work with a dedicated staff, supportive community, and incredibly talented students. Together, we will carry on the legacy that CGHS has established of providing a quality high school experience and a supportive environment where all students are challenged to learn and grow. Neil Lesinski To share a little about me: I am originally from Grayslake, IL. Neil Lesinski Principal In my educational career, I have led a few different divisions, Principal including English and Career Tech Ed. Most recently I have Rebecca Saffert been serving District 155 as the Director of Curriculum and Assessment. I completed Vice Principal my undergrad at Western Illinois University and played tennis there for four years (Go Jim Kelly Leathernecks!). My masters degree in school administration is from Concordia University, Dean of Students (A-K) and I am currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership through Aurora University. My wife, Sara, and I have two children, Leo (22 months) and Ella who was born Amy Langelund on May 30. Sara is a high school English teacher, so we share a passion for education. We Dean of Students (L-Z) both feel very fortunate to be able to raise our family in the traditions and Trojan spirit of Dr. Hank Harvey Cary-Grove High School and its community. Freshman and Transfer Student Orientation The Cary-Grove staff and students Invite the Class of 2021 to Link Crew Freshman Orientation 10 a.m.–1:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, Lower Gym The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from middle school to high school a positive one. Seniors and juniors will serve as leaders and mentors to the freshmen. Large and small group activities are designed to address students’ needs and concerns in an enjoyable manner. Wear comfortable clothes and don’t bring school supplies. Travel light! Due to the nature of this program, make-up opportunities are not available. Chromebooks will be distributed to all students this summer. It is important that you come to Cary-Grove only during your scheduled date and time if at all possible to pick up your Chromebook. I want to again congratulate the Class of 2018 and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. They served as tremendous role-models for our underclassmen in demonstrating how to be great leaders and well-rounded people. Speaking of underclassmen, we are excited to welcome the Neil Lesinski Freshman Class of 2022 into the Cary-Grove family and have Principal no doubt they will find their transition to high school a great experience. Essentially, we collaborated to define what Students (A-K) it means to “Be C-G.” The discussions led to the creation of the six Be C-G Pillars, which Ryan Ludwig include Self Advocacy, Perseverance, Integrity, Engagement, Responsibility, and Citizenship. TOSA Dean of Over the course of the year and into the future, our staff will be focusing on these pillars Students (L-Z) while students self-evaluate their progress in each area and work towards continuous improvement. I am excited about the Be C-G campaign and encourage parents and Dr. Hank Harvey guardians to discuss the pillars with their student(s) as we roll them out this fall.
