BRECKENRIDGE GOLF CLUB – SHOTGUN START POLICIES

Shotgun starts are utilized on a very limited basis at Breckenridge primarily during the week and only for groups with 120 or more players up to 144 players. Some early season shotguns may be allowed with an 80 player minimum.

If the group has less than 120 players, the Golf Club reserves the right to book additional players, outside of the group, to fill a shotgun of 120 players.

Shotgun start player numbers must be verified 21 days in advance of play. If group numbers drop below shotgun minimums, the group will be switched to tee times with 10-minute intervals.

Shotgun Start outings must have the appropriate deposit sent by May 1, or within 10 working days if the booking is made inside of May 1.

Pricing for Shotgun events is $79/player during Low Season, $85 during Shoulder season and $125/player for High Season. There are no discounts or free golfers for groups utilizing a Shotgun format. Fee includes 18-holes of golf, cart and practice balls. In addition to the golf fees, a $2/player gratuity will be added to the final bill.

An 18-hole course “Buy-out” may be purchased for $13,400 during High Season. This includes 18-holes of golf for up to 124 golfers, and includes cart, range balls, and a $1000 credit towards merchandise prizes.

Groups with less than 80 players that need to start and complete their golf in a timely manner, should consider these options:  Tee off two different course rotations and score the common nine holes if tournament scoring is required. , Closest to the Pin and other events can be held as well with this format.  Callaway scoring system works great for this event if an 18-hole score is requested (either team or individual).  64 players can be accommodated with tee times in a period of 1 hr 10 minutes from the first to the last group using one course. A group of 48 players can tee off within 30 minutes of each other using two different courses.

SCRAMBLE FORMAT AND RULES

1. Each member of the team hits his or her tee shot. The team then decides which is the best shot. All members of the team then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out. A team score is then recorded and the team moves to the next hole. If a team has been established, it will be deducted at the end of the round.

2. Each member of the team must use a minimum of TWO tee-shots during the round.

3. Each team member may place his ball within one club length of the selected shot, no nearer to the hole.

4. If the selected shot is played from a , bunker, rough, second cut of rough, fairway or fringe of the green, the ball may be placed within one club length of the selected shot no nearer the hole, but it must remain in the hazard, bunker, rough, second cut of rough, fairway, or fringe of the green. When putting, the ball must be placed within two inches of the selected shot, no nearer the hole.

5. Men play from the SILVER or GREEN tee markers, women from the RED tee markers.

6. All ties will be decided by matching scorecards beginning on the first hole, of the first nine played.

Good Luck and Play well!

970-453-9104 / [email protected] / PO Box 168, Breckenridge, CO 80424 Here is an alternative scoring method for golfers without established handicaps. The Callaway System:

When the Callaway System is in use, all competitors tee off and play , scoring in the normal fashion with one exception - double is the maximum score on any given hole (i.e., on a par 4, 8 is the maximum score).

Following the round, gross scores are tallied. Based on each golfer's gross score (using the double par maximum), each golfer tallies up a prescribed number of worst scores from their scorecard, then applies a second adjustment that may add or subtract additional strokes.

The result is a total that is something similar to a net score using real handicaps.

A couple points:

 The higher a competitor's gross score, the more holes that player will be deducting

 Holes deducted begin with the highest score; if a player gets to deduct one hole and his highest score is an 8, then an 8 is what gets deducted

 Scores on the 17th and 18th holes may not be deducted, even if one (or both) of them is the competitor's highest score.

 Even after high scores are added together for the allowance, the second adjustment must be made; this adjustment might add or subtract 2, 1 or 0 strokes from a player's Callaway handicap.

 Once the appropriate number of high scores has been tallied, and the second adjustment is made, the player is left with a net score.

 Half scores are rounded up. If a player is deducting half of 7, then that 3.5 is rounded up to 4.

So using the chart is a matter of finding the gross score, looking across the row for the handicap deduction, then looking down the column for the adjustment. Gross (using double par Handicap Deduction max.) 70 71 72 Scratch 73 74 75 1/2 of Worst Hole 76 77 78 79 80 Worst Hole 81 82 83 84 85 1 1/2 Worst Holes 86 87 88 89 90 2 Worst Holes 91 92 93 94 95 2 1/2 Worst Holes 96 97 98 99 100 3 Worst Holes 101 102 103 104 105 3 1/2 Worst Holes 106 107 108 109 110 4 Worst Holes 111 112 113 114 115 4 1/2 Worst Holes 116 117 118 119 120 5 Worst Holes 121 122 123 124 125 5 1/2 Worst Holes 126 127 128 129 130 6 Worst Holes Handicap -2 -1 0 +1 +2 Adjustment
