2010 GRADUATES

I am writing to inform you that the Condé Nast Classified Department are now recruit- ing for an Induction course commencing March/April 2010.

We would again be grateful if you could continue to join in our search for suitable applicants by displaying the enclosed advertisement on your notice board, website or within the pages of your free Careers Bulletin. I have enclosed the Condé Nast brief once again for your information.

As you may be aware, some applicants express confusion when reading abridged copy used in University Career Bulletins. Experience has shown that the name “Condé Nast” is less known, whereas the names of specific titles such as Vogue, GQ and The World of Interiors hold immediate appeal. Would it therefore be possible to ensure that the emphasis at the beginning of each bulletin entry describes our company as

“Condé Nast: publishers of Vogue, House & Garden, Brides & Setting Up Home, , The World of Interiors, GQ, Vanity Fair, Condé Nast Traveller, Glamour, Easy Living and Wired”.

In doing so, we will avoid the risk of excluding interested and potentially high achieving individuals.

Should you need any further information, please contact Diane Brown on 020 7499 9080 ext. 3705 or by e-mail on [email protected]

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to working with you again.

Yours sincerely

Shelagh Crofts CLASSIFIED DIRECTOR Condé Nast Publications Ltd is one of the World’s leading International Publishing Houses.

The British Condé Nast Group currently publishes ten leading titles; namely: Vogue, House & Garden, Brides, Tatler, The World of Interiors, GQ, Vanity Fair, Condé Nast Traveller, Glamour, Easy Living and Wired.

Broadly speaking, career opportunities can be separated into the realms of Advertising, Editorial, Media Research, Circulation, Accounts, Administration, Production, Art & Design and Library Services.

The Classified Department in particular, falls within the Advertising domain.

Selling advertising space is widely regarded as an essential part of the Condé Nast organisation: the revenue generated is a vital component of the Company’s foundation.

Each magazine has its own Display Advertising Department. By contrast, the Classified Department handles advertising for Vogue, House & Garden, Brides & Setting Up Home, Tatler, World of Interiors, GQ, Condé Nast Traveller, Glamour, Easy Living and Wired.

The term ‘Classified’ refers to the black and white advertisements at the back ofthe magazines, arranged under their relevant group headings for easy reader-reference.

In addition, Condé Nast Classified also deals with a substantial number of colour advertorial-style pages and special Directory pages, such as the Salon Directory in Vogue.

A Sales Executive’s role carries great responsibility. There are selling pressures, balanced against the need to maintain high quality typesetting and reproduction work, within the designated deadlines.

However, the sense of satisfaction is high and the promotional prospects are excellent. The training provided within Classified provides a firm base upon which a career in publishing can be established. Infact, with hard work and dedication, promotion within Classified or into other departments within the Company, is highly likely.

In conclusion, The Condé Nast Publications Ltd creates an atmosphere which encourages personal and professional growth and development.

The Company seeks to reward merit, consistent service and special achievements which contribute towards the progress of the Company as a whole.

Your assistance in trying to satisfy this aim is very much appreciated. ®
