Auctioneer’s Report: (Will Alexander): A sharper Teeswater ram trade than expected, with a top call of £400 for a shearling from J & M Whitfield, Wray. Noted breed David Newbould realised £320 whilst others better tups found homes between £200-£300. A handful of females sold to a top of £190 again from David Newbould, Ripon, with a smart lamb, his second at £180, matched by GF Harker, Harrogate with their gimmer shearling . Auctioneer’s Report: (Stephen Dennis): The Annual Sale of Blue Faced Leicester Rams was well attended with 250 rams selling to a near complete clearance. Shearling rams as always in strong demand averaging £697.15, up £247 on the year. Ram lambs also getting away well averaging £569.26, up by £200 on last year. Topping the sale was a shearling ram from the Gragareth Flock of W & D Lawson & Son, Parr Bank. The ram, sired by Gragareth H5 out of a Kentmere Hall H1 ewe sold for £4800 joining Geoff & Josh Ryder of Harrogate. David & Robin Booth’s Smearsett Flock were again well followed with their first shearling sire by Smearsett G11 out of a W002 Harland ewe selling for £4100 to Messrs Dobson of Bishop Auckland, The Booths also sold shearlings to £3500, £3000, £2800, £2600 & £2200. Other leading prices for shearling rams included Chris & Tessa Hewitt selling their Riddings sired ram at £3000 and a Cherry Tree shearling at £1400. JC Walker & Son, (Brennand) selling shearlings at £1800, £1200 and £1100; J Huddleston, Ravenscar £1600 , £1100; H Huddleston & Son, Snab Green £1300; JR & J Gorst, Appletree Farm £1200.
