The band delivers their own take on traditional heavy metal, topped with killer, totally unique vocals. It’s definitely a sound to fall in love with, as it is fresh, twisted and original. Listening to this LP, you’ll get intensity, melodies and an overall inspired performance from all parts involved. King Diamond and Mercyful Fate are obvious references, but a song like the opener “All Hail Evil” also leans a bit towards newer acts like Sweden’s Portrait, and even Enforcer, the latter mainly due to the energy and some of the guitar work. The song is an intense and almost hectic opening tune, musically with lots of NWOBHM-references, great guitar work and some cool bass lines creating a solid foundation for the track along with the strong and natural drums. On top of it all you’ll find a very impressive and inspired vocal performance from vocalist extraordinaire Logon Saton. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

Kreator/Sodom/Destruction 27.12.2001 Bochum Zeche Im Rahmen der "Hell comes to Town" Tour , kam dieser Tross auch in das Ruhrgebiet, was sich nur wenige entgehen ließen. Dank der "Deutschen Bahn" jedoch, die mal wieder pünktlich wie nie zuvor war, sah ich nur die letzten 3 Songs von "Destruction", unter anderm "Thrash t´ill Death" und "The Butcher strikes back". Insgesamt war die Stimmung jedoch recht gut, was darauf schließen lies, das der Gig im ganzen recht gut wahr. Der zweite Auftritt an diesem Abend war von "Sodom", anzumerken ist, in jeder Stadt wechselten die Headlinerpositionen ab, wie ich erfuhr waren "Destruction" in Ludwigsburg Headliner und in Osnabrück "Sodom". Die Jungs plätteten in dieser Stunde mal wieder einiges, und machten von Anfang an eine Riesenstimmung, was sich sehr schnell auf die Menge übertrug, denn pausenlose "Ursel","Bombenhagel","Sodom" und "Onkel Tom," Rufe nahmen kein Ende. Die Jungs ließen sich auch nicht lumpen, und spielten querbeet alles aus ihrer Schaffensphase, ob "Wachturm","Sodomy and Lust" oder auch "Bombenhagel", alles dabei. Natürlich fehlten auch Songs der neuen Scheibe nicht, wovon sie unter anderem "M-16" und "Napalm in the Morning" spielten. Tiefpunkt des Auftritts war jedoch, als "Tom Angelripper" allen sein "Osama bin Laden"T-Shirt präsentierte, und daraufhin fragte, "Kennt ihr den?" ,"Den Wixer?", "Das Arschloch?", oder den "Pillemannsauarsch?" Die Hälfte des Publikums jedoch ließ sich auf das Niveau herunter und quittierte dies mit dem Singsang "Oh, hängt ihn auf" und ähnlichem.

Et oui c"est le temps qu"il aura fallu pour que les musiciens de RYCHUS SYN pour remettre la machine en route ! Seuls rescapés de cette première époque Drew MANISCALCO (guitares) et son frère Greg (batterie).Rebirth vous permettra d"écouter les cinq titres du EP, Under Attack, Contents Under Pressure, Child of Mercy, Power Thunder and Steel et Air Raid plus cinq nouveaux titres.Preuve que le groupe n"a pas sorti juste pour le fun ce CD, les anciens titres ont été ré enregistrés et collent parfaitement aux nouveaux, impossible de les différencier !Dix titres carrés, très Heavy Métal, une grosse production, un chant excellent, des riffs acérés et des soli pertinents vont rendre ce Rebirth attrayant du début à la fin ! Pour les influences récentes je dirais WARDOG (A Sound Beating de 1999) par le chant et le son des guitares, et les compos ; rajoutez y des passages rappelant les vieux METALLICA, METAL CHURCH surtout au niveau rythmiques et vous obtiendrez RYCHUS SYN. La majeure partie des titres est médium et quatre sont plus rapides, voir limite Thrash sur Under Attack.

    AS YOU SOW: CULTURE, AGRICULTURE, AND THE NEW DEAL by JASON MICHAEL MANTHORNE (Under the Direction of James C. Cobb) ABSTRACT This dissertation reinterprets the New Deal for agriculture, arguing that USDA New Dealers were primarily occupied with revitalizing rural life rather than with simply raising farmers’ income. More than anything, agrarian New Dealers thought that a thriving rural life would come from modernizing rural cultures. In the 1910s and 1920s, rural sociology emerged to critique the prevailing orthodoxy of “productionism,” the idea that greater agricultural efficiency was the singular solution to the “farm problem.” Rural sociologists subverted productionism and argued that the problems of rural life were largely social and cultural. Factory farms would hollow out rural communities when strong and well-populated communities were what rural people needed most. Agrarian New Dealers came out of this earlier tradition, a fact reflected in their interest in rural life and their commitment to a style of participatory democracy that harkened back to the rural communities of the nineteenth century. USDA New Dealers developed two distinct sets of programs, one for America’s “cultures of commerce” and another for its “cultures of poverty.” In the cultures of commerce—those places where farmers produced almost exclusively for the market—these experts wanted to rationalize and not simply reduce agricultural production so that most farm families could remain in agriculture. But they also wanted to rein in the cultural excesses that they believed led to soil mining and overproduction. The New Dealers’ programs for the “cultures of poverty” were more problematic. For the most part, rather than attacking the causes of poverty in places like Appalachia and the Cotton South, the USDA treated poverty as a cultural malaise.
