The Kronberg Academy Yearbook was entirely inanced and produced through advertisements and volunteer efforts. „Warum sind all diese großen Musiker hier? Weil sie überzeugt sind, dass die Arbeit, die hier geleistet wird, ein bedeutsames Unterfangen ist. Anderenfalls würden sie nicht kommen. Es gibt so viele Orte, wohin sie gehen könnten. Wer hierherkommt, erkennt die Bedeutung dessen, was hier getan wird. Es sind große Musiker. Es sind großartige Persönlichkeiten. Sie wissen, dass sie ein Erbe weiterzugeben haben. Und sie haben sich entschieden, es hier zu tun.“ “Why do you have all these great musicians here? Because they believe that the work that is being done here is a serious undertaking. Otherwise they wouldn’t come. There are plenty of other places they could go. The people who come here understand the importance of what is being done. They are great musicians. They are great human beings. They know that they have a legacy to leave and they have chosen to do that here.” MARTA CASALS ISTOMIN Mitglied des Künstlerischen Beirats der Kronberg Academy Stiftung Member of the Artistic Council of the Kronberg Academy Foundation JAHRBUCH DER KRONBERG ACADEMY 2015 INHALT 6 Editorial KRONBERG 8 Beirat, Kuratorium, International Advisory Board, Stifter, Stiftungsförderer ACADEMY 10 Kronberg Academy Forum FESTIVAL Impressionen 104 Ein festliches Bekenntnis 121 EINE ALLIANZ Künstler, Werke und mehr 134 FÜR DIE MUSIK Eine Allianz für die Musik 14 VERABREDUNG MIT SLAVA 140 Steven Smith Mit guten Instrumenten wachsen 16 MIT MUSIK – MITEINANDER 146 Dr.

The song’s (for me) resulting association with night-time ac- counts for the dreamlike and sometimes nightmarish quality of the free variations based around its melody. This theme, which is first heard adorned by a simple canon at the piano’s first entry, con- tains its own internal, repetitive echoes which in my version I give to the harp. Increasingly, as the movement progresses, the harp takes on the role of the soloist’s ‘shadow’. At the close, the song in its canonic form ascends into the highest register of the piano, barely audible.’ Ryan Wigglesworth. European Union 5 May 2014 MEDIA RELEASE “EUROPE DAYS 2014" TO STEAL THE SHOW WITH STRIKING EVENTS The “Europe Days 2014” program makes a rendezvous with Vietnamese public, proposing a fascinating journey through the European cultural scene with a series of diverse intellectual and cultural activities. Set to provide a bridge for cross-cultural exchange, the “Europe Days 2014” program will open a window into the richness of the European Union’s different cultural traditions with inspiring performances and information activities. The first “Europe Days” program was introduced in Vietnam 10 years ago and since then it has gained resounding success and growing public attention, thus establishing itself as a prominent feature in the Vietnamese cultural calendar. The “Europe Days” program celebrates Europe Day, 9 May, when the “Schuman Declaration” – the foundation for the beginning of what is the European Union today- was made in 1950. Since then, the EU has grown into a union of 27 Member States, which now unites the European continent in peace and ensures a level of prosperity and stability previously unknown in the history of Europe. The Union has since emerged as a global trading power and an influential actor in international affairs. This May, the European Union also celebrates 10 th anniversary of its largest enlargement in 2004 and events in the "Europe Days" program are great examples of the richness of European diversity which underpins the continued success of the European integration. “Europe Day” is also the occasion for activities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and strengthen the many bonds that Europe has established with nations around the world, including Vietnam.
