ΓΖΑ — Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity Inc. ​ ​ ​

Scholarship 2019-2020 (Deadline: September 1, 2019)

The Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity Inc. of University of California, San Diego Scholarship is for students who come from a Latinx background. We are a Latino Fraternity on campus and our three pillars are: Academic Excellence, Community Service, and the Maintenance of the Latino Culture through Brotherhood. Year after year, the amount of Latinx students that go to college has been increasing; this general trend has been seen across many different universities and at UC San Diego as well. We established this scholarship to help incoming Latinx students with their financial needs. The funds for this scholarship came from our annual Bowlathon, as well as through alumni and peer donations. The scholarship will be distributed to two incoming Tritons, male and female. This money is meant to help the new generation and we hope it can help two incoming Tritons.

Requirements: - 3.5 minimum unweighted GPA - Must be of Latinx descent - Will be attending University of California, San Diego - Full time student (minimum 12 units) - Community service hours (if applicable) - Letter of recommendation [Optional] Essay : - Write about a time when you demonstrated leadership, personal/career goals and how your background helped and influenced you to achieve that leadership and/or goals. (650 words minimum)

- Scholarships do give special consideration to students with certain circumstances.Examples include: family hardships, former foster child, academic challenges, learning disabilities, etc. (250 words minimum) [Optional]

We will need an unofficial transcript, the personal statement(s), an acceptance letter from UCSD, your incoming Fall 2019 schedule, and a list of the community service events you’ve participated in, if applicable. They may all be emailed to: nuacademics.gammas@gmail.com ​
