The 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour is scheduled over an eight-month period starting in April in Brazil and ending in November in Thailand. The US$380,000 China Shanghai Jinshan Open is the second of twelve double gender events on the 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour calendar. The FIVB Swatch World Tour returns to China for the 14th-straight year with Dalian hosting the first women’s event in 1998 and Lianyungang hosting the first men’s event in 2004. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour, please visit www.fivb.org. · May 2 - 8, China Shanghai Jinshan Open, Men and Women, $380,000 - Shanghai returns to the 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour calendar for the eighth-straight season (seventh for men). It will be held at the Jinshan Beach Stadium in the Jinshan District. This will be China’s 29th and 30th FIVB Swatch World Tour events, including 10 previous men’s and 18 women’s events. The 2011 Shanghai stop also marks the 14th-straight season that China has staged a FIVB Swatch World Tour event. Host country China has eleven women’s medals, three gold, five silver, and three bronze and two men’s medals – both silver. · The China Shanghai Jinshan Open starts May 2 and concludes May 8. -

The Australian Sports Commission is established in accordance with the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989. The objects, functions and powers of the Australian Sports Commission are prescribed in Sections 6, 7 and 8, respectively, of the Act. The 2009 women’sSWATCH FIVB World Tour started in April at Brasília and will conclude at the start of November in Phuket, Thailand with the US$190,000 Phuket Thailand Open. For more information regarding the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, please visit www.fivb.org. · After staging women’s FIVB Challenger/Satellite events in Pattaya (2001), Bangkok (2005) and Phuket (2005), Thailand will be hosting a women’s event on the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour calendar for the fourth-straight year. The 2005 Phuket stop served as a prelude to the inaugural SWATCH stop in Thailand in 2006 where the competition was part of the Andaman Festival to mark the first anniversary of the Tsunami of 2004. Jen Kessy and Heather Lowe won the 2001 Pattaya event for the United States while China’s Linjun Ji and Whenhui You captured the Bangkok stop. Lijun Ji was 18 years old when she won the event to become the youngest player ever to win “any” international Beach Volleyball event at the time. Eiko Koizumi and Shinako Tanaka captured Japan’s first-ever international Beach Volleyball gold medal by winning the 2005 Phuket event. After upsetting reigning Olympic champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States in the semi-finals, then 17-year old Chen Xue and her then 21-year old partner Xi Zhang upset Chinese rivals Jia Tian and Jie Wang for the 2006 gold medal. -

The 2013 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar will feature FIVB-record ten Grand Slam events along with the 2013 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Stare Jablonki, Poland. The FIVB has also launched a new initiative in 2013 which includes seven Open events spread throughout the world to help open the door for development of the sport. The schedule starts in April in China and concludes in December in South Africa. 2013 marks the 26th anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. · July 1-7, Beach Volleyball World Championships Mazury 2013, Men and Women, $1,000,000 – Stare Jablonki is hosting an FIVB Beach Volleyball event for the tenth-straight time. The event will be held at Hotel Anders. Poland has hosted 21 previous FIVB World Tour/Open events, seven men’s, four women’s, and five double-gender. Host country Poland has won only one medal on its country’s soil, a silver medal in 2011. · Beach Volleyball World Championships Mazury 2013 starts July 1 and concludes July 8.
