The 2012 FIVB SWATCH World Tour is scheduled over a seven month period starting in April in Brazil and ending in October in Thailand. The FIVB returns to the iconic Horse Guard’s Parade in London where it held a test event from August 9-14 in 2011. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour, please visit www.fivb.org. · July 28-August 9, XXX Olympic Games, Men and Women - The event will be held at the Horse Guard’s Parade in London. The United Kingdom has never hosted an FIVB SWATCH World Tour event, but did host a test event last August. · The XXX Olympic Games starts July 28 and concludes August 9. The 2018-2019 FIVB World Tour calendar includes two five-star events, both are part of the Beach Major Series, 12 four-star events, 6 three-star events, 8 two-star events, and 29 one-star events, along with the FIVB World Championships and the World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 21 will also be held along with an Olympic Qualification Tournament in September. The 2018-2019 World Tour began in August of 2018 in Hungary and will conclude in September of 2019 with The World Tour Finals in Rome, Italy. The 2018-2019 season marks the 33rd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Eleven events played in 2018 in Hungary (Siofok), France (Montpellier), China (Zhongwei, Qinzhou, and Yangzhou), Iran (Bandar Torkaman, Babolsar, and Bandar Anzali), the United States (Las Vegas), Mexico (Chetumal), and Slovenia (Ljubljana) were a part of the 2018-2019 FIVB World Tour. The FIVB World Championships will be the 438th men’s event and 405th women’s event on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour (open, grand slam, Olympic and Goodwill). The first men’s FIVB World Tour event was played February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The first women’s event was played August 14-16, 1992 at Almeria, Spain.

The 2009 women’sSWATCH FIVB World Tour started in April at Brasília and will conclude at the start of November in Phuket, Thailand with the US$190,000 Phuket Thailand Open. For more information regarding the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, please visit www.fivb.org. · After staging women’s FIVB Challenger/Satellite events in Pattaya (2001), Bangkok (2005) and Phuket (2005), Thailand will be hosting a women’s event on the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour calendar for the fourth-straight year. The 2005 Phuket stop served as a prelude to the inaugural SWATCH stop in Thailand in 2006 where the competition was part of the Andaman Festival to mark the first anniversary of the Tsunami of 2004. Jen Kessy and Heather Lowe won the 2001 Pattaya event for the United States while China’s Linjun Ji and Whenhui You captured the Bangkok stop. Lijun Ji was 18 years old when she won the event to become the youngest player ever to win “any” international Beach Volleyball event at the time. Eiko Koizumi and Shinako Tanaka captured Japan’s first-ever international Beach Volleyball gold medal by winning the 2005 Phuket event. After upsetting reigning Olympic champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States in the semi-finals, then 17-year old Chen Xue and her then 21-year old partner Xi Zhang upset Chinese rivals Jia Tian and Jie Wang for the 2006 gold medal.

    I Campionati Mondiali 2019 ad Amburgo Dal 28 giugno al 7 luglio 2019, allo stadio Am Rothenbaum di Amburgo, si terrà la quindicesima edizione dei Campionati Mondiali maschili e femminili di beach volley. L’appuntamento clou della stagione pre olimpica riserverà anche la possibilità, per le coppie vincitrici, di staccare il pass per Tokyo 2020. Un ulteriore motivazione per le tre coppie azzurre che proveranno a portare a casa la prima medaglia mondiale nella storia italiana di questa disciplina. Nel tabellone maschile, i vice campioni olimpici Paolo Nicolai e Daniele Lupo, sono tornati a pieno regime dopo il recupero dall’infortunio alla mano destra procuratosi da Lupo prima dell’inizio della stagione. La coppia azzurra che si presenta ai nastri di partenza al decimo posto del ranking mondiale, farà il proprio esordio il 29 giugno contro Soares-Nguvo. Alex Ranghieri e Marco Caminati, invece, parteciperanno in virtù della wild card ottenuta e inizieranno il proprio percorso il 28 giugno contro Doppler-Horst, con la voglia di sorprendere tutti. Nella stagione in corso, da sottolineare l’argento conquistato nella tappa 2 stelle di Aydin, in Turchia. Con lo stesso obiettivo scenderanno in campo Marta Menegatti e Viktoria Orsi Toth, che rappresenteranno i colori azzurri nel tabellone femminile. Le due atlete tricolori sono tornate a competere insieme a partire dalla metà della scorsa stagione, conquistando subito qualche buon piazzamento nel World Tour 2018, come il secondo posto nella tappa 3 stelle di Qinzhou e la medaglia d’oro nella tappa 2 stelle di Agadir. In generale, per tutte le coppie tricolori in gara, la rassegna iridata sarà un’ottima occasione per mettersi in mostra, anche in vista del grande appuntamento di settembre, con le World Tour Roma Finals in programma al Foro Italico.
