THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST. PHILOMENA THE SOCIETY OF SAINT PIUS X August 18th, 2019 A.D. – Tenth Sunday after Pentecost Welcome Visitors! The National Shrine of St. Philomena is part of the apostolate of The Society of Saint Pius X. The Shrine is maintained by an Association of Catholics known as “The Friends of St. Philo- mena, Inc.” (Code of Canon Law, N. 215). We teach the full Christian Faith and Morality. We adhere to the Traditional Roman Rites and follow the 1962 Roman Missal. The National Shrine of St. Philomena was founded in 1988 by Father Timothy Hopkins, R.I.P. He was a priest of the Diocese of Marsi, Italy, ordained by Mgr. Biaggio Terrinoni, O.F.M. (Cap.), R.I.P, on December 8th, 1984. Father Hopkins was privileged to have been Gregorian Latin liturgy associated with the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X for more than 23 years. Until 1969, the various Catholic liturgies were While obedient to the One True Church, and all of apostolic origin. The Gregorian Latin acknowledging and praying at each Mass for liturgy, celebrated in this church, follows the His Holiness Pope Francis, and the Most Rever- tradition of Saint Peter, the first Pope, and has end Thomas Wenski, Archbishop of Miami, the never undergone any essential change till the Shrine is not affiliated with the Archdiocese of present time. The heart of the B.V. Mary is venerated because it is united to her person and is the seat of her love, especially for her divine Son, and her virtue. This devotion is an incentive to a similar love and virtue. Please pray the Litany of the Immaculate Heart of Mary after your daily rosary. The feast day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is August 22nd. This is the same devotional Mass that is said on First Saturdays. Words of the B.V. Mary at Fatima: “Jesus wants to use you in order to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world the devotion to my Immaculate Heart. To the one who embraces it, I promise salvation. These souls will be loved by God as flowers picked by me to adorn His throne. My heart will be your refuge and the way which will lead you to God.” **** Today’s second collection for this third Sunday of the month will be taken up for the Priory in Sanford. **** St. John Eudes was a French missionary and the founder of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity. He was the author of the liturgical worship of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. He was also instrumental in encouraging devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, writing the first book ever on the devotion to the Sacred Hearts, "Le Coeur Admirable de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu". He died at Caen, on August 19th, 1680. He was canonized in 1925. **** St. Bartholomew, a doctor in the Jewish law, was one of the Twelve Apostles. He was a dear friend of St. Philip the Apostle. Because Bartholomew was a man "in whom there was no guile," his mind was open to the truth. He went willingly with Philip to see Christ, and recognized the Savior immediately as the Son of God. After having received the gifts of the Holy Ghost on Pentecost, Bartholomew evangelized Asia Minor, northwestern India, and Greater Armenia, where he was arrested while preaching to idolaters, and condemned to death. His feast day is August 24th. **** St. Jane Frances Frémiot de Chantal was born in France on January 28th, 1572and died on December 13th, 1641. She founded the religious Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. The Congregation was canonically established at Annecy on June 6th, 1610 and accepted women who were rejected by other orders because of poor health or age. The order had 86 houses when St. Jane Frances died at the Visitation Convent in Moulins at aged 69. She was beatified by Pope Benedict XIV in 1751; and was canonized by Pope Clement XIII on July 16th, 1767. Her feast day is August 21st. “The LORD is in his Holy Temple; let all the earth keep silence before Him.” (Hab. 2, 20) St. Ambrose’s sermons. Chapter XIX (Number 4) Howbeit, should they desire to dispute the use of the words "divine Substance" or "divine Nature," they shall easily be refuted, for Holy Writ oft-times hath spoken of ou- sia in Greek, or Substantia in Latin, and St. Peter, as we read, would have us become partakers in the divine Nature. But if they will have it that the Son is of another "Substance," they with their own lips confute themselves, in that they both acknowledge the term "Substance," whereof they are so afraid, and rank the Son on a level with the creatures above which they feign to exalt Him. Arius calls the Son of God a creature, but "not as the rest of the creatures." Yet what cre- ated being is not different from another? Man is not as angel, earth is not as heaven, the sun is not as water, nor light as darkness. Arius' preference, therefore, is empty--he hath but disguised with a sorry dye his deceitful blasphemies, in order to take the foolish. Arius declares that the Son of God may change and swerve. How, then, is He God if He is changeable, seeing that He Himself hath said: "I am, I am, and I change not"? OF YOUR CHARITY, PLEASE PRAY FOR: Pope Francis, Archbishop Thomas Wenski, Fr.
