The team returns its top six scorers forefront. He has shown the ability to beat defenders in a variety of from last year’s 23-9 team and will blend in a talented group of ways making life difficult for opponents. Sophomore Chris Dowe, new players who fans will remember from his highlight reel dunks, will back up Kendle after a solid freshman season. Freshman Keisten Jones, The team is getting plenty of preseason buzz again as Sporting a highly athletic guard/forward combo from Ballard High School, News has tabbed the Knights preseason No. 2, while DII Bulletin will also log minutes in the off guard as will Junior Kris Carree. ranks Bellarmine 6th in the nation. The Knights look to have plenty of fire power going into the season There will be lots of experience in the post this season as the Knights have a one-two punch of Senior Nick Holmes and Junior Luke Sprague. Holmes was slowed down last year by complications from pneumonia but is back and healthy now. Sprague gives the Knights a big body on defense that can step out and knock down perimeter shots. Aaron Robison will look to back the two up along with freshman Hayden Simon and Tony Hamann. Bellarmine could add up to four members to the 1,000 point club this year as Benedetti, Hobbs, Kendle, and Sprague are all within proximity to join the prestigious club. The Knights will be tested early and often as they will play a challenging schedule during the season. The Knights will play 14 games in the friendly confines of Knights Hall starting with a Nov. 4 exhibition contest against Kentucky State. The Knights will also travel to Xavier University in Cincinnati for a Nov. 6 contest to wrap up the exhibition season. The regular season will begin on Nov. 21 when the Knights will take on Wayne State. Also on the nonconference slate will be three regular season tournaments, the John Dickensheet Classic on Nov. 21-22 in Institute, W.V., the Bellarmine Invitational on Dec. 10-11, and the Bill Joergens Memorial Tournament in Evansville, Ind. on Dec. 29-30. Bellarmine will also take on King College on Dec. 18 in their last nonconference game. The GLVC season will kick off early as they travel to Owensboro on Dec. 2 to face reigning GLVC regular season champion Kentucky Wesleyan. Two days later they travel to Evansville, Ind. to go up against rival Southern Indiana. The rest of the GLVC schedule will happen after the New Year and highlighted by games at Saint Joseph’s (1/15), at Indianapolis (1/17), and home games against Northern Kentucky(1/20), Quincy (1/29), Southern Indiana (2/17), and Kentucky Wesleyan (2/19). 2 3 COACHING STAFF PROFILES HEAD COACH SCOTT DAVENPORT ASSISTANT COACH DREW COOPER Drew Cooper is in his fourth year under Scott On April 29, 2005 Scott Davenport became Davenport.
