Prior to transferring to Bellarmine:

For three years, starred for GLVC rival St. Joseph’s College, where she amassed 927 career points with a double digit career scoring average of 12.2 points per contest. Did not play her senior year, but did go on to earn an undergraduate degree in busi- ness, graduating cum laude in 2008. She is pursuing a master of business administra- tion degree at Bellarmine.

As a junior at St. Joe’s, she started all 27 games for the Pumas and averaged 17.2 points and 4.7 rebounds a game while logging better than 35 minutes a game. Her 17.2 scoring average ranked her second in the GLVC that year. An occasional starter her first two years, she averaged 9.5 points a game as a sophomore and 9.3 as a freshman.

A standout high school player, Hughes helped her North Vermillion team to an Indiana State High School Championship as a junior. The following year, North Vermillion finished as the state runner-up. During that two-year span, Hughes’ high school team had an amazing 54-game winning streak.

Prior to transferring to Bellarmine:

Began her collegiate career playing for Coach Jane Albright at the University of Wisconsin, playing two years before injuries forced her to miss her junior and senior seasons. She earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology at Wisconsin.

Nicols played sparingly as a freshman, but got five starts as a sophomore for the Badgers. She averaged 2.3 points a game while seeing action in 26 games. After getting a clean bill of health, she returned to collegiate basketball last season at Lincoln Memorial University. She made an immediate impact and was named “Female Newcomer of the Year” by LMU’s head coaches. In her only year as a Lady Railsplit- ter, Nicols was a team captain and started at guard. She finished the season as the third leading scorer on the LMU women’s basketball team, averaging 10.7 points per game, while also handing out 4.53 assist and pulling 5.6 rebounds each night, second best on the squad.

Nicols was the the Wisconsin high school player of the Year in 2000 and earned hon- orable mention All-America honors by Street and Smith’s her senior year. She helped lead Pius IX to three consecutive state private schools titles.

The baseball field was built in 1954 and has been renovated several times.
