Scottish Episcopal Church DIOCESE of ABERDEEN and ORKNEY St Andrew’S Cathedral, Aberdeen Scottish Episcopal Church DIOCESE OF ABERDEEN AND ORKNEY St Andrew’s Cathedral, Aberdeen The Consecration and Installation of The Reverend Canon Anne Dyer as Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney by The Most Reverend Mark Strange Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church Thursday, 1 March 2018 at 1pm Biography of Anne Dyer Anne Dyer was born in Bradford in West Yorkshire. She attended Bradford Girls Grammar School, and then read Natural Sciences (Chemistry) at St. Anne’s College, Oxford. After university, Anne worked for Unilever as a Business Systems Analyst. During this time Anne joined the Church of England, attending her parish church where she was a youth leader and developed an interest in the use of theatre and the arts in worship. Having trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and studied for an MTh at King’s College, London, Anne was one of the first women to be ordained deacon in the Church of England in 1987, and priest in 1994. In the eighteen years Anne served in the Diocese of Rochester, where she was instrumental in ministry development through the training for lay and ordained ministries, Anne was active in church planting. Anne was Adviser in Women’s Ministry, an educational selector for the Church of England, and was a member of the Chapter of Rochester Cathedral. From 2005 to 2011, Anne was the first female Warden of Cranmer Hall, the Anglican theological college in Durham, where she taught ordained ministry, mission, and leadership. In Durham, Anne had wide experience of working ecumenically, established a network of those working with visual arts, and was an honorary canon of the Cathedral. From 2011 until 2018 Anne served as Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Haddington. She chaired the review of ministerial training in the Scottish Episcopal Church, which led to the establishment of the Scottish Episcopal Institute. She has served as a member of General Synod, and was Chair of the East Lothian Foodbank. Anne has an interest in fine arts, and lectures regularly on the relationship between art and theology, mostly recently in Edinburgh and across the Lothians. Her other interests include quilting. Anne is married to Roger, and they have a daughter, Millie, who lives with them.
