PHILADELPHIA ARTS TOUR – Monday, August 26, 2019

Enjoy a guided tour of the Barnes Museum, one of the world’s greatest collections of impressionist, post-impressionist, and modern European paintings. Assembled by Dr. Albert C. Barnes between 1912 and 1951, the collection includes masterpieces by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. Also displayed are important examples of African art, Native American pottery and jewelry, German furniture, American avant-garde paintings, and wrought-iron metalwork. The minute you step into the galleries of the Barnes collection, you know you’re in for an experience like no other.

Next, tour the Rodin Museum, home of the largest collection of Rodin sculptures to be found outside of . With nearly 150 bronzes, marbles, and plasters, the distinguished collection housed in the Rodin Museum represents every phase of ’s career. This jewel of a museum features casts of the artist’s greatest works – , and . The Museum offers an intimate setting in which to enjoy some of the world’s most renowned masterpieces of sculpture. Learn about Auguste Rodin and his large body of work and find out how this extraordinary museum found a home in Philadelphia.

Browse and have lunch at Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s largest and oldest public market spaces. Housed since 1893 in a National Historic Landmark building, this food hall offers an incredible selection of locally grown and exotic produce, meats, poultry, seafood, cheeses, baked goods, and confections.

You will also find everything you need from cookbooks, table linens, kitchenware, fresh cut flowers, plus the widest variety of restaurants all under one roof.

End the day at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, a folk art environment, and gallery space on South Street. This space is an ongoing project, created by mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar. The Magic Gardens spans three city blocks, and includes indoor galleries and a large outdoor labyrinth. The mosaics are made up of everything from kitchen tiles, bike wheels, bottles and china plates. It is a sight not to be missed.

HISTORIC PHILADELPHIA WALKING TOUR – Tuesday, August 27, 2019

Experience history where it actually happened! Join your tour guide, in colonial costume, on a 3 hour walking tour of the most historic areas in the United States. Visits will include sites such as the , Congress Hall, Franklin Court, Christ Church, and Elfreth’s Alley. There will also be guided tours of Independence Hall and the Betsy Ross House.

Enjoy lunch and shopping at the Bourse. Recently renovated, this building was founded in 1891 by George Bartol. It was the first building in the world to house a stock exchange, maritime exchange and grain-trading exchange simultaneously. Today the historic space has been repurposed into an internationally inspired food hall and shoping area.

End your day at the National Constitution Center. This center features a wide range of exhibits, live performances and programs that illuminate our constitutional freedom. Admission includes a 17 minute multimedia theatrical performance of “Freedom Rising” and entrance into Signers’ Hall, where you can sign the Constitution alongside 42 life-size, bronze statues of our Founding Fathers.
