    FOREWORD Acorn was set up by a group of volunteers in August 2011 to promote positive mental health and improve the emotional health and wellbeing of individuals experiencing mental health issues in Neath Port Talbot. This directory has been produced because members of Acorn identified the need for information about services and support organisations to be easily available and in one place. It is estimated that one in four people will experience mental ill health at some point in their lifetime, so mental illness will, at one time or another impact on many of our lives, either directly or through family, friends or colleagues. It is important to be able to find the right help, support and guidance easily so we hope this directory will help to achieve this. We have tried to focus on local services, but where these don’t exist we have put together a section on national organisations, websites and help lines. Promoted for and on behalf of Cycling Time Trials under their Rules and Regulations R10/23 ‘BACK ROAD’ COURSE DESCRIPTION (SAME AS 2014) R10/23 START on the B4242 Old Vale of Neath Road at the entrance to F.E. Chick just north-east of Rheola Pond. Proceed south-west on the B4242 to Resolven junction. Continue south-west on the B4242 passing through Abergarwed village and Ynysarwed village to the ‘Rock and Fountain’ hill, climb and continue to TURN with care at the break in the dual-carriageway opposite the Groundhog factory at Ynysgerwen, SA10 8HH (5.0 miles). Descend hill and retrace route north-eastwards along the B4242 through Ynysarwed village and Abergarwed village. Continue north-eastwards through Resolven junction and past Rheola Pond to FINISH directly opposite the start. There is no car parking near the start and to do so will endanger competitors. SOUTH WALES DISTRICT NOTES TO ALL COMPETITORS PRESENT Please remember to sign on and look out for any updated safety information.     17th Programme – Swansea Ramblers We offer short & long walks all year around and welcome new walkers to try a walk with us. 1 Front Cover Photograph: Table Mountain with view of Sugar Loaf v14 2 Swansea Ramblers’ membership benefits & events We have lots of walks and other events during the year so we thought you may like to see at a glance the sort of things you can do as a member of Swansea Ramblers: Programme of walks: We have long, medium & short walks to suit most tastes. The summer programme runs from April to September and the winter programme covers October to March. The programme is emailed & posted to members. Should you require an additional programme, this can be printed by going to our website. Evening walks: These are about 2-3 miles and we normally provide these in the summer. Monday Short walks: We also provide occasional 2-3 mile daytime walks as an introduction to walking, usually on a Monday. Saturday walks: We have a Saturday walk every week that is no more than 6 miles in length and these are a great way to begin exploring the countryside. Occasionally, in addition to the shorter walk, we may also provide a longer walk. Sunday walks: These alternate every other week between longer, harder walking for the more experienced walker and a medium walk which offers the next step up from the Saturday walks. Weekday walks: These take place on different days and can vary in length. Most are published in advance but we also have extra weekday walks at short notice.

    Bridgend County Borough Profile – 2018 Introduction Bridgend County Borough is located in the heart of South Wales, centered between the principality’s two main cities; Cardiff to the east and Swansea to the west. The county borough is bordered by Neath Port Talbot to the west and north, Rhondda Cynon Taff also to the north and north east, and by the Vale of Glamorgan to the east. It has an area of about 25,500 hectares and has a population of 143,400 (ONS Population estimate). Extending approximately 20km from east to west, the area encompasses the Ogmore, Garw and Llynfi valleys to the north, and bordering the Bristol Channel to the south. The main commercial centres are Bridgend and Maesteg and the seaside resort of Porthcawl. Bridgend is the largest of these towns and is the administrative centre for the area. The county borough benefits from excellent transportation infrastructure with the M4 motorway crossing the southern part of the county borough in an east-west alignment, providing speedy access to Cardiff, Swansea and the rest of South Wales and beyond. There are three motorway junctions (35 – 37) within the county borough. Additionally, an inter-city high speed rail service linking the area with the whole of the national rail network provides fast and efficient rail transport whilst Cardiff Airport is only 15 miles away. Bridgend is also well connected to the sea ports, with Barry, Cardiff, Port Talbot and Swansea within 30 minutes drive-time.
