Bobet est aussi le champion breton d’une France centralisée qui s’essaie à la régionalisation et d’une province qui se modernise à grands tours de roue.     Volunteering for TCR No4. Thank you for considering volunteering for the Transcontinental Race this year. This document aims to outline the roles for this year’s event, giving you an idea of what we need and a taste for what you can expect. Volunteering from home. Translation. We are seeking individuals with language skills to help us translate some of our documents from English to some of the key languages our riders speak. We have a number of documents we would like to feel confident that riders have understood thoroughly. We ask individuals who are fluent in English and another language(s) to help provide aids to understanding the original documents. We would like to have all of these available to our riders by early July. Please see the form for details of which languages we are specifically seeking. Dot watchers. Our army of Dot watchers help make the TCR the credible and influential race it has become. Thanks to their dedication and hours of attention each year we follow every rider’s progress throughout the race and catch issues that may come up. This can also help improve rider safety and allows us to act on any rule infringements in order to present a fair race. To try and suit as many people as possible we have created several options to choose from if you would like to get involved as a Dot Watcher: Casual Dot watcher. This dot watcher “Lite” volunteering requires the least commitment and allows you to check the map at your own convenience. We appreciate many people will be watching the dots as friends/family or simply fans of the sport.

Si la popularité du Tour de France est inoxydable, c’est pourtant l’épreuve où les scandales de dopage sont les plus fréquents et médiatiques. Regard croisé sur cette sombre face de la Grande Boucle. Bar (Charlie Hebdo, 25/06/2013) Un contexte favorable En premier lieu, si le dopage n’est pas l’apanage du monde sportif, il faut souligner que la compétition est un domaine qui pousse fortement à la triche. C’est notamment le cas du Tour de France ; qui par sa forte médiatisation et ses enjeux financiers très importants, offre un contexte incitant à la triche. De plus, la dimension très énergétique de l’effort (endurance) facilite le ciblage des produits. Une longue tradition ponctuée d’affaires Il n’est pas choquant d’évoquer la culture du dopage dans le monde du cyclisme, et donc naturellement sur le Tour de France. Car dès le début du XXe siècle, les coureurs consommaient de la strychnine, qui était pourtant un poison assez redoutable. De la même façon, des mélanges à base d’arsenic pour lutter contre la douleur étaient utilisés. En 1924, dans le célèbre livre intitulé « Les forçats de la route », le journaliste Albert Londres dévoile ainsi les pratiques dopantes des coureurs du Tour de France. Les frères Pélissier, qui décrivent leur abandon, racontent ainsi : « Voulez-vous voir comment nous marchons ? [...] Ça, c’est de la cocaïne pour les yeux, ça c’est du chloroforme pour les gencives… ».

Sounding Nostalgia In Post-World War I Paris Abstract In the years that immediately followed the Armistice of November 11, 1918, Paris was at a turning point in its history: the aftermath of the Great War overlapped with the early stages of what is commonly perceived as a decade of rejuvenation. This transitional period was marked by tension between the preservation (and reconstruction) of a certain prewar heritage and the negation of that heritage through a series of social and cultural innovations. In this dissertation, I examine the intricate role that nostalgia played across various conflicting experiences of sound and music in the cultural institutions and popular media of the city of Paris during that transition to peace, around 1919-1920. I show how artists understood nostalgia as an affective concept and how they employed it as a creative resource that served multiple personal, social, cultural, and national functions. Rather than using the term “nostalgia” as a mere diagnosis of temporal longing, I revert to the capricious definitions of the early twentieth century in order to propose a notion of nostalgia as a set of interconnected forms of longing.

These extremely demanding races provide a unique opportunity for field observation as to the limits of human endurance physiology and importantly, when these limits might be exceeded, and crossover into pathology. The heart is of special interest in this field and previous data suggest 'reverse drift' of heart rate occurs as a product of time and load in races of 24 - 48 hrs, whilst transient structural abnormalities have been observed upon completion of running ultramarathons. Here, we report a unique case of a male cyclist racing in the Transcontinental Race over an extended period of 14 days characterised by extreme workloads and low quantity and quality of sleep. Heart rate response was dynamic over the course of the race and defined by a U-shaped quadratic relationship. Pourquoi une découverte aussi importante a-t-elle autant tardé ? Certains affirment – pas seulement chez Michelin – que sans le pneu, il n’y aurait pas eu de bicyclette ni d’automobile. Ou alors, si peu. Et roulant si mal. C’est une histoire déconcertante. En effet, quoi de plus élémentaire qu’un pneu ? Mais le génie de Michelin est d’en avoir fait, dans sa poursuite de l’excellence, un produit de haute technologie, aussi complexe dans sa conception, dans ses constituants et dans sa réalisation que simple dans son utilisation. À l’inverse d’autres industries, qui banalisent les appareils les plus compliqués, Michelin s’est ingéniée à rendre le pneu toujours plus performant, plus sophistiqué. « Si le pneu ne vous passionne pas, vous n’avez rien à faire dans cette Maison » assure Marius Mignol, génial inventeur du Radial au jeune François Michelin lorsqu’il entre à la Manufacture en 1955. La passion, c’est celle de la recherche, de l’innovation. C’est celle que partagent les dirigeants, les ingénieurs, tout le personnel. Le fruit en est le pneu X dont les nombreuses déclinaisons hissent en un demi-siècle l’entreprise auvergnate au rang des leaders mondiaux. Un demi- siècle supplémentaire de course pour l’immortel Bibendum qui double ainsi sa durée de vie tout en rajeunissant sa silhouette, défiant et séduisant tous les publicitaires de la planète.
