Mikaela Shiffrin Petra Vlhová Preview FIS Audi Alpine Ski World Cup 2019/2020 – Women’s Mikaela Shiffrin • Mikaela Shiffrin won the crystal globe in the overall, slalom, giant slalom and super-G last season. • Shiffrin won 17 of the 35 women's World Cup races last season. She participated in 26 World Cup races in 2018/19. • Shiffrin won the women’s overall crystal globe in each of the last three seasons. • Shiffrin can become the second woman to win the overall crystal globe in four consecutive World Cup seasons, after Annemarie Moser-Pröll (5 in a row, 1971-1975). • In total, only Moser-Pröll (6) and Lindsey Vonn (4) have won the women’s overall crystal globe at least four times. • Shiffrin has won a total of 11 crystal globes, including the slalom classification six times (2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019). • Shiffrin shares the record for most women’s slalom crystal globes with Vreni Schneider (6). • Only Vonn (8 in downhill) and Moser-Pröll (7 in downhill) have won a specific women's crystal globe at least seven times. • On the men's side, only Marcel Hirscher (8 in overall) and Ingemar Stenmark (8 in slalom and 8 in giant slalom) have won a specific crystal globe at least seven times. • Shiffrin is tied with Katja Seizinger (11) and Renate Götschl (11) in joint- fourth place for most crystal globes among women. Petra Vlhová • Petra Vlhová finished second in the slalom, giant slalom and overall World Cup standings last season. • A Slovakian skier has yet to win a crystal globe (male/female). • Vlhová won five World Cup races last season, second-most among women behind Mikaela Shiffrin (17). • Vlhová has won nine World Cup races in total, which already is a record among Slovakian skiers. • Veronika VeleZ-Zuzulová (30) is the only Slovakian skier on more World Cup podium finishes than Vlhová (26). It was the first time since 2011/12 that Gut-Behrami did not win a race in a World Cup season. • Gut-Behrami has won 24 World Cup races in her career. She could become the fifth female Swiss skier to win at least 25 races, after Vreni Schneider (55), Erika Hess (31), Michaela Figini (26) and Maria Walliser (25). • Gut-Behrami has won 12 races in the women's super-G, fourth-most all- time after Lindsey Vonn (28), Renate Götschl (17) and Katja Seizinger (16). • Gut-Behrami won the super-G crystal globe in 2014 and 2016. She can become the fifth woman to win the super-G standings at least three times, after Seizinger (5), Vonn (5), Carole Merle (4) and Götschl (3). • Gut-Behrami was the last skier to win the women’s overall crystal globe other than Mikaela Shiffrin, as she won in 2015/16. Wendy Holdener • Wendy Holdener had eight podium finishes in last season's World Cup, but failed to win a race. • Her eight podium finishes were third-most among women, behind Mikaela Shiffrin (21) and Petra Vlhová (14). • In total, Holdener has won three World Cup races, two in the Alpine combined on home snow in Lenzerheide and a city event in Stockholm. • Holdener finished first in the standings of the Alpine combined in 2015/16 and 2017/18. The only women to have finished first in the Alpine combined standings more often are Brigitte Oertli (4), Janica Kostelic (4), Anita Wachter (3), Pernilla Wiberg (3) and Lindsey Vonn (3). • The last Swiss woman to win the crystal globe in one of the technical events was Sonja Nef in 2002, when she won the giant slalom crystal globe. Viktoria Rebensburg • Viktoria Rebensburg has won three crystal globes, all in the giant slalom. • Rebensburg could become the second woman to win four crystal globes in the giant slalom, after Vreni Schneider (5). • Rebensburg has won 17 World Cup races, including 14 in the giant slalom. Anita Wachter, Tina Maze and Lise-Marie Morerod have also won 14 women's giant slalom races in the World Cup. Only Schneider (20) and Annemarie Moser-Pröll (16) have won more. • Rebensburg's 17 World Cup victories are fourth-most among German women, behind Katja Seizinger (36), Maria Höfl-Riesch (27) and Hilde Gerg (20).
