Presencia y distribución de micofilas en gra míneas de Argentina. Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 56(1): 15-22. Se realiza un estudio de las micofilas encontradas en gramíneas (Poaceae) de pastizales natu rales de Argentina. La búsqueda del simbionte fúngico se efectuó en plantas vivas y herbori zadas. Se dan a conocer como nuevos hospedantes a Festucafiebrigii Pilg., F. hieronymi Hack, var. expansa (St. Yves) Türpe, F. parodii St. Yves, Melica macra Nees, M. stuckertii Hack., Poa hieronymi Hack., P. holciformis J. Presl, P. lilloi Hack., P. plicata Hack, y P. stuckertii (Hack.) Parodi, y se amplía el área de distribución de la asociación para Festuca arundinacea Schreb., F. hieronymi Hack. var. hieronymi y F. tucumanica E.B. Alexeev. El tipo de interac ción observada corresponde a una simbiosis mutualista. En la mayoría de las especies analiza das el endófito colonizó el parenquima de las cañas y los frutos, salvo en Melica macra. Poa hieronymi y P. plicata, en las que solo se observó en el parenquima. Por otro lado, la presen cia de micofilas presentó variaciones con relación a la especie del hospedante, altitud y locali dad de procedencia. Leonardo Paz Deble A tribo Gnaphalieae é composta de 180-190 gêneros e cerca de 1.240 espécies, com distribuição quase cosmopolita, com maior diversidade na África do Sul, Ásia, Austrália e América do Sul (BAYER et al., 2007; DILLON; SAGASTEGUI, 1991; WARD et al., 2009). Para a América do Sul, Dillon e Sagastegui (1991) reconheceram 2 centros de diversidade: a Cordilheira dos Andes e o Sudeste do Brasil e regiões adjacentes. Tradicionalmente, Gnaphalieae foi subordinada à tribo Inuleae, sen- do reconhecida como um dos grupos de mais difícil identificação dentro da família, dadas a homogeneidade dos caracteres vegetativos e a escassa variação dos caracteres florais (CABRERA, 1961). Estudos recentes demons- traram que as Gnaphalieae encerram grupo monofilético posicionado na base da subfamília Asteroideae (ANDERBERG, 2009; ANDERBERG et al., 2005; FUNK et al., 2005). -

Aiming to characterize the structure of the arboreal community in a riverine forest remnant of the Taquari river, State of Rio Grande do Sul, 42 sampling units of 100 m2 (10 × 10 m) were located. Phytosociological parameters were also assessed and the indexes of Shannon diversity (H’) and Pielou evenness (J) were evaluated. A total of 39 species, 21 families, 2.83 nats ind-1 for H’ and 0.77 for J were recorded. Among the species found, the endemic Callisthene inundata O.L. Bueno, A.D. Nilson & R.G. Magalh. and Picrasma crenata (Vell.) Engl. are included in the list of endangered species. The density found was of 1,557.14 ind ha-1. Luehea divaricata Mart. and Lonchocarpus nitidus Benth. showed the highest indexes of importance values. Besides contributing to the knowledge of species distribution and community structure, this study points out the need for conservation of existing native forest remnants. The New World is one of the centers of diversity of the tribe with 24 genera and over 100 species, most of which form a clade called the Luciliagroup with 21 genera. However, the generic classification of the Luciliagroup has been controversial with no agreement on delimitation or circumscription of genera. Especially controversial has been the taxonomic value of achenial trichomes and molecular studies have shown equivocal results so far. The major aims of this paper are to provide a nearly complete phylogeny of the Lucilia group at generic level and to discuss the evolutionary trends and taxonomic significance of achenial trichome morphology. -

Part II covers the Monocotyledons and completes the preliminary edition of the Checklist, which we hope will prove useful not only in itself but also as a first step toward a new manual for the identification of the Area’s flora. Such a manual is needed to replace the long- outdated and out-of-print Flora of the District of Columbia and Vicinity of Hitchcock and Standley, published in 1919. In the preparation of this part, as with Part I, Shetler has been responsible for the taxonomy and nomenclature and Orli for the database. As with the first part, we are distributing this second part in preliminary form, so that it can be used, criticized, and updated while the two parts are being readied for publication as a single volume. -

The plant is widely distributed in the states along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, and is considered to be abundant in the southern portion of its range. It is rare in New York and New England at the northeastern limits of its distribution. Sabatia stellaris is an annual that usually grows as one main stem with branching on the upper half. In the northern part of its range, plants grow to 20 cm. Flowers consist of a 4 to 7-lobed corolla that ranges from crimson-pink to light pink and sometimes white. The white-flowering form is widespread in the southern part of its range; however, this form constituted 75% of a Connecticut population in 2003, which is considered the first documentation of this form in New England. As an annual, S. stellaris exhibits extreme variability in the number of plants found at an occurrence in a given year. For example, in 2002 the estimated number of plants at three of the extant New England populations numbered about 1000, with an absence of plants from the fourth occurrence. -
