Lisa Burke* Secretary

Lisa Burke, a lifetime member of the Girl Scout movement, is currently a Member-at-Large on the GSNC Board and has been nominated for Secretary. Lisa has been active at GSNC for over 15 years, during which time she served two terms on the Council’s Board Development Committee; was Board Champion on the first Strategic Learning Team for GSNC; co-chaired the Delegate Communications Committee for eight years; chaired the Nominating Committee; served three terms as Secretary of the Board of Directors; and served as a Member-at-Large of the Board (2005- 2011, 2018 to present). Through her work on the Delegate Communications Committee, Lisa found a passion for Girl Scout gov- ernance at both the local and national level. She has attended three GSUSA National Council Sessions/ Conventions as a visitor and two as a chaperone (Atlanta 2005 and Indianapolis 2008). She was called up as an alternate to serve as a National Delegate at the 2011 and 2014 National Conventions and was a Delegate at the 2017 and 2020 National Conventions. The mother of two lifetime Girl Scouts and a former Boy Scout in Oyster Bay, she has served as Troop Cookie Manager and still serves as the fall product manager in the Oyster Bay Service Unit. Her daughter joined Girl Scouts as a Daisy and earned her Gold Award. Denise was a Girl Scout leader until 2002 and has been a member of the WHFS Service Team for over 25 years. Her various positions on the service team include Event Chair, Personnel Chair, Secretary, Sunshine & Sympathy, Bridging and Awards Ceremony coordinator, CAV, Trip Application Chair, and Publicity. On the council level, Denise is one of the founding members and Co-Chairs of the Girls Go the Distance Walkathon/Family Fun Day, a member of the Adult Recognitions Committee, is a Cookie Booth Sleuth, was a member of the Alumni Event Committee and the 100th Anniversary Gala Committee as well as helping out wherever she can.
